A sweet read for girls

    Review by Jill Williamson

Eleanor Jo loves life on the farm. Waking up to her father¿s singing, gathering eggs, doing laundry, and helping Mama make dinner, Eleanor loves feeling so grown up and safe. But then news comes. The war on the other side of the world has come to the United States. Men are packing up and shipping out to join the fight. Eleanor is scared, but as people in the community work together, rationing food and cutting back so they can send money overseas, Eleanor starts to think of ways she can help. She helps Mama work in the Victory garden, organizes her friends to write letters to soldiers and pray for them, and starts the Victory Club to raise funds. Through all this Eleanor learns that hard work can be fun and helpful to others.

This was a sweet story about a girl who knew the meaning of the word sacrifice. She gave up her time and poured her heart and prayers into the things she did during the World War II war effort. I found her character endearing and fun. I recommend this book for girls who want to read a fun, historical story. It was a great read.

    A Christmas must read!

Anyone wanting to read the Truth of Christmas and to enjoy the love of family during the holidays-this is a MUST read. You see how a grandma gives her grandchildren a lesson in their heritage by sharing her life as a child and the Truth of Jesus' birth in a way only a grandma can do! It would be a great family read-aloud book.

Eleanor Jo: A Great Christmas Story

Eleanor Jo is a lovely Christmas Story. It tells the story of Christmas that few children know and enjoy. It is historial and loving in verse. My grandchildren would ask if Christmas was really this way? It is sad that very few know Christmas as shown in Eleanor Jo. A lovely book that Mrs. Clark should be very proud of.

A Christmas Classic for Young or Old

I purchased this book as a gift for my granddaughters. As I began to read it, I found myself caught up in my own childhood memories. The author does an excellent job of capturing the simplicity of that time in our history, allowing the reader to recognize the Christian values that I feel are so important to today's youth. This book will tug at your emotional heart strings, and should be enjoyed by all ages.

A Christian, Heart-touching Story for Children

We purchased four of the Eleanor Jo books for Christmas gifts for little girls on our list and after reading the book, we intend to order several more. We will be proud to give this book to any young children. We began reading the book, just to review the content and could not put it down. It brought back many early memories of Christmases and reminded us of how much things have changed in today's world. We are looking forward to Eleanor Clark's next books in this series, which we understand will be published this next year.
