In the Timeless Classics series, Charles River Editors is republishing civilization’s greatest literary works and bringing them to a new generation via ebooks. Timeless Classics offers a wide range of history’s greatest writing, including the acclaimed fictional stories of Jonathan Swift and Washington Irving, the political treatises of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Karl Marx, the epic poetry of Homer, and more.

Electra was the daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra. Upon his return from the Trojan War, Agamemnon was killed by his wife and her lover, Aegisthus, who then assumes the throne after their marriage. Electra and her brother, Orestes, plot revenge on their mother and step-father for the murder of their father. Electra was also the main character in another Greek tragedy with the same name by Euripides.

This edition of Sophocles’ Electra includes a table of contents and is illustrated.
