This book (500 pgs text) is an immense history of electricity including all the major contributers and there discoveries. Actually, it almost has all the contributers and all the strange and bizarre ideas that painfully led up to the modern science of electricity. It starts with Gilbert's gentlemanly primitive experiments and Aristotlish theories and ends with the science of men like Volta, Cavendish, and Galvani. I recommend this book if you want the most complete book on early electricity you are likely to find for reference or to read right through it.
