Slightly Useful

I bought this book for research purposes. I am writing a fantasy novel, and I thought it would be helpful. It has some good information in it, but the organization is a bit lacking. I would much rather it have been in Dictionary format. There is no real way to look something up. You just have to keep flipping through until you find what you are looking for.

Also, the information is a bit limited. I was hoping there would be more symbols. I didn't find as much of a need for this book as I would have liked.

Symbols and Signs

It's easy to search on words and find resources that educate you about language, but images present a problem. I picked this book up on a whim and find it useful and interesting. Images/signs are arranged by themes so its a bit difficult to look up a picture if you have no background info at all. Perusing the book, however, never fails to be interesting.

Outstanding

This is an wonderful book to keep in the private library. It is well organize in the defenitions of each simbol given. A must for those intrested in the occult as those in historical symbols.

Simple reference book

Basic reference book for kids to adults. Nice design and layout could be more indepth. If looking to add a little book to your reference library then go ahead and buy it.

Just one in the long line of amazing Elements of Encyclopedias!

Secret Signs and Symbols is another great collection of information about mythology and imagery. Information that has taken me years of personal research to find, you can find here. I use it as a regular reference guide for increasing my general knowledge and looking up important facts. Any of the Elements of Encyclopedia series are a must have. They are all very well researched and written in clear and concise formats.

Excellent book, I afraid however since 1 February, I have become a Books A Million Patron...The hours of our local bookstore have been cut back 2 hours 5 nights a week and 1 Hour 2 nights a week. We have complained to Customer Service reps and Managers, I have e-mailed Barnes Nobel with no response.

Books a million is across the Street in Merritt Island, FL and they are actively cutting costs and taking on things like their own custodial duties to keep serving the community. They are doing the job Starbucks/Barnes and Nobel should be doing and I expect. I understand having to cut costs, these bad economic times and afraid we are to share the poverty as a community for years to come. Books A Million is doing the job with a lot less resources at hand. If the local employees do not wish to work till 11, they should be relocated to a 9:00 close Starbucks...not cut hours a customer expense. I have worked this industry before there plenty to keep employees busy..projects still need to be done. Cutting Hours back at Tax Refund Time is not the smartes move, I do expect IQ from my local Barnes and Nobel.

The managers of our local store should be looking for ways to increase revenue and cut costs not at the expense of loyal customers.

I will try to visit the Corporate offices as the e-mail is not working and local contacts are unappropriately responsive.
