My Review (Book Monster Guest Reviewer)
Rose is anything but an ordinary teenager. Throughout her life her family has been constantly on the move, never staying in one place too long, as a result Rose aims to be an open and bubbly person to combat the loneliness she feels every time she leaves a set of friends. At an early age Rose discovers that she is different, she can do things that her friends can't including being able to heal herself and others. When Rose moves in with her Grandmother Daisy she is given the freedom she craves she teams up with her childhood friends Hannah & Mira who introduce her around town. Rose finds herself drawn to two boys, Aiden the quitessential bad boy and Morgan the mysterious boy who lives on her Grandmothers estate. People have been disappearing from town and when someone close to Rose's new friends is next they decide to start their own investigation. As the mystery unravels Rose discovers that those closest to her have been keeping secrets and everyone has a hidden agenda.
It was refreshing to have a 16 yr old with little experience in the ways of the heart, she may be drawn to both boys but at the same time she is being cautious. I have a feeling there's more to come with her relationship with both Aiden & Morgan. Daisy is an interesting character, you just know she know's a lot more than what she is willing to admit to!
This is a tale full of mystery and intrigue, by the end I was wondering just who Rose could trust. It's heavy on the description at the start but by the end Alexandra seems to have found a nice balance between setting the scene, character interaction and plot development. The whole book has set the scene for the next one and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops and joining Rose on the next part of her journey.

This is a tough book for me to review I have very mixed up feelings about it but I am giving it 3.5 stars because if I feel this strongly about it I must have really liked it.
First of all this is not my typical genre, this is more sci-fi than paranormal in my opinion. And second of all this is my constructive opinion... I don't like to say criticism because in the end a book and writing is an art form and who am I say what's right or wrong. I can only give my opinion as to what I believe and experienced as a reader.
With all that said here goes...
First the negative because I like leaving on a positive note if at all possible.
I had a tough time reading this it may have been just a language barrier, meaning the conversation didn't flow for me. I have read British writing before but this felt a bit off for me. Second I felt like Rose was a bit quick to feel things or naive. Without revealing any spoilers, maybe her family is the cause of that but her encounters with her new friends and Morgan moved a bit quick, meaning as a reader it wasn't quite "believable".
Here is the positive stuff.
The story was imaginative and original. As a paranormal reader for me to enjoy the story of what I felt was a sci-fi book, it was a good story. There is some really interesting things going on in this small town! The book also feels like a half story to me and ends so abruptly I was left like ... WHAT?????? Now you say how can that be positive? Because the author did her job and got me extremely curious and ready for the next one. This is also a great book for teens, very clean and fun. For parents that like to read a book with their teens and discuss this is a great choice.
All in all, you have to read it and I will be interested to see all my friends opinions.
Thank you to Alexandra May for offering up her work to the group for our honest opinions it certainly takes guts and I enjoyed the journey.

This book has left me completly and utterly astonished! When I recieved this book for review I knew I was gonna enjoy it, I had no idea though that it was gonna put me on a rollar coaster of love, suspense, mystery and so much more ! This book has surprises around every corner and I loved every moment I spent devouring it! Needless to say, I really liked this book.
Elemental is threw the eyes of Rose, Rose is moving into her Grandmas house, as far as she knows, her dad has a dangerous job, and some people want to hurt him and his family, so her family leaves her to live with her grandma so she is safe, what rose doesn't know, is there is way more to why they want her living there..Rose meets up with some old friends, and things seem to be going great she even starts to form feelings for Morgan, Morgan seems perfect, but there is someone else occupying Rose's thoughts, and that's Aiden. Aiden is mysterious and dangrous, everyone tells Rose he is bad news and she needs to stay away, but he seems so caring towards Rose that it's hard for her to beilieve them, as more and more weird things start to happen around Rose she will be tested in ways she can't even imagine, her heart will be tested, she will be betrayed, and she will find out what she is to become...
Alexandra May has put together such an amazing new addition to the YA world, and I can honestly say I can't wait to see more of her work! Elemental took on awhole new fantasy involving the Halíka Dacomé legend, but what Rose believes is a legend, isnt at all. This book had wonderful plot, the story was something new and completly keeps your attention threwout, the characters had great development, scenry is beautifully describeded, this book just had everything I look for in an amazing read.
One of the best aspects of this story for me was the suspense. This book had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen! Rose is so fearless and threwout the story is put in sistuations where you can't help, but get the feeling something bad is going to happen. This was one of the main reasons this book got me so much, when Rose enters those situations you can't help but keep reading until you know everyone will come out okay!
The romance is also what really caught my attention, Rose has mixed feelings for both Morgan and Aiden, Morgan is gorgeous and everyone loves him, Rose has feelings for him, but it's nothing compared to the connection she feels when she is around Aiden. Aiden, I completly and totally love him. Alexandra has put together such a unique character when it comes to Aiden, I have never EVER met another character like him, he really is just one of a kind and was such a delight to read.
All in all this book was an amazing read and I recommend it to anyone looking for a new fantasy or just anyone who is looking for a great read. This book will draw you in with it's suspense and romance, and once you finish, it will leave you begging for book two.

I liked Elemental: The First it was filled with suspense and I was constantly trying to figure out what was going to happen next. Elemental: The First gives a lot of background information of the characters and the town. Normally, I find too much detailed information and not enough action to bore me but Alexandra had a perfect balance between the two. The ending did bug me because I was hoping that we would find out a bit more of what exactly Rose does and more about Aiden and Morgan but it ended right where the suspense was the greatest! Such a cliff hanger! I was in shock that it ended like that. It was like a TV Show finale that is split into 2 weeks and ends with your going NO I NEED MORE WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU END IT THERE ARRRG!!!

I absalutely, possitivly loved this book! (I know i didnt spell any of that right) Yeah the beginning was a little slow but over all it was a very intriguing book! My questions and the suspense never diminished. I always wondered 'what will happen?' Will Rose end up with Morgan or Aiden? Was Rose seeing the future through her dreams?
Omigosh! I loved the way Morgan and Rose met! It was so funny! I also loved Morgan! Awww he was soooo sweet and gentle and caring and... ugh i love him! Please get this book if you are intrigued by fantasy, romance, suspense, and gorgeouse boys who will most definatley charm you!

Quite literally, the halfway point was where the story started to pick up for me. The author did a nice job with the interaction of all the characters. I was honestly, a ping pong. Yes you heard me. I couldn't decide who I liked more! At first, obvious choice was Aiden, but then helloooo Morgan. Both equally sexy in their own ways.
I was annoyed with Rose quite a bit in this book. I felt that she flew off the handle way to quickly, and acted like a pouty brat most of the time. I mean, if I were Morgan, and this chick kept flipping out on me because she did something wrong like break into my house, I wouldn't even bother.
The end had to be my favorite. That's when all the fun starts to happen. Secrets revealed, deception, heart ache. It was wonderful, and it ended perfectly for a second book.

So fake. Yes, i know this is paranormal but she acts very weird like its supernatural to eat cereal or something. Im just bored so i skipped everything that did not include Aiden. Aiden is the only character in this book that is worth reading about.

This is a great book for teens and older people like myself. It is about a girl who discovers she has powers on her 16th birthday. She goes to stay with her grandmother and a whole new life enfolds for her. This book has romance, magic, mystery and all the ingredients for a great read.
