Overview

Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they are more than you dream.

As an air Elemental, 17-year-old Emily Morgan doesn't have much power. That's okay--she knows what happens to kids who do.

Like Michael Merrick. He's an earth Elemental, one with enough power to level cities. Which makes him sexy, dangerous, and completely off limits. At least according to Emily's family.

But her summer job puts her in close contact with Michael, and neither of them can help the attraction they feel. When forces of nature like theirs collide, one misstep could get someone killed. Because Emily's family doesn't just want her to stay away from him.

They want him dead.

It's not clear whether this is supposed to be a novella, which I doubt, or if this is just an excerpt, which is more likely. It ends abruptly at 49 pages, it's very frustrating to purchase these nookbooks that aren't complete. This should be specified! That said, what I read was pretty entertaining, though she had barely gotten into any real character development

If you are looking for a new paranormal romance to read, Brigid Kemmerer's Elemental series is the place to start! I just finished reading the novella and I HONESTLY liked it better than any novella I've ever read. The characters were fully developed, the plot line didn't feel stilted. I only wish I had my hands on the rest of the series! I can't wait to read STORM when it's available and to get to know the uber-hot Merrick clan.

I haven't read anything in this series other than this prequel novella which is set 5 years prior to book #1 titled 'Storm'. This is our introduction to Michael, the eldest Merrick boy, primarily. We are also introduced to the twelve year old twins, Gabriel and Nick and also Chris. Michael Merrick has a lot on his shoulders. He is a 'Pure' Elemental. Earth is his mojo. This little entree novella, really wet my appetite for more of these boys, now I realise 'Storm' is set five years later , I think the Merrick boys are going to be a handsome handful. Might I also add, very popular. I am hoping Emily stays in Michael's life as she too is an Elemental, she can control Air or in this book , it's more of a breeze. I think Tyler is going to be a handful, Emily's brother, as her family are not liking Michael. I think their fear of his power is getting out of hand. This little novella was over far too quickly and I want more. I had the opportunity to read an excerpt from 'Storm' , but I chose to wait. It was bad enough this prequel finishing too soon, cause you just want more......... I highly recommend reading this novella, if you are unsure about how high to put this series on your TBR list...I can guarantee you will be sliding it to the top. I know I am in for the long haul. Brigid's writing captures the readers interest in so few pages. I will be all grabby, grabby for 'Storm' , due for release April 24th 2012 for US and apparently May for us Aussies.

I enjoyed the concept and the pace was good but ended strangley. More of a introduction or teaser to read the other books in this series.

Elemental is book #0.5 in the Elementals series by Brigid Kemmerer. It's a 50 page prequel to the Elementals series about two teens that can control the elements. Emily doesn't have a lot of power, but Michael does. This makes him very dangerous and the other Elementals want him dead. Emily and Michael have a growing attraction, even though it is forbidden for them to be near each other. These two have some good chemistry, which is sometimes hard to find in a novella. I was drawn in from the very beginning. I wish it was longer – Michael is a character I would have liked to read more about. He has a tough life, and I felt bad for him. I liked how the POV switched back and forth from Emily to Michael. It's always nice to have the male perspective as well. The ending seemed a little abrupt to me. It's definitely making me want to read the next book in the series, though it sounds like it centers around one of Michael's brothers instead of Michael (which is a little disappointing). Still, I have a feeling that Storm will be just as good and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Really short and the characters were a bit undeveloped. It was a good read considering it was only 49 pages long.

This is a short novella (only about 49 pages). This one is about the older brother Michael (earth element) and 5 years before the book Storm. It's a nice insight on what the books are about. I only wish it was longer because I did like Michael and wanted to find out more about him, but overall I think it's a great start to the series.

I loved learning about Michael! But this book is only 49 pages long. It could have simply been a chapter in one of the full length books. I also didn't like how it ended as a total cliffhanger!!! You don't find out what happened until you read "Spark" which is the 2nd full length book. If you are okay with that then buy this "book".

I Loved this book. It was the beginning to the elemental series. I have just finished reading the 3rd installment, 'Spark' and I can hardly wait until the next book comes out next Summer. Quite a different read for me but I was really into the story. I don't want to give anything away but it is about the life of the Merrick brothers whom all have special powers. The story was very fast paced and really exciting. I couldn't put the books down. A definite read if you like anything Paranormal.

Would call it a short novella except the storyline is incomplete. Reads more like a sample. I suggest reading it in the store for free instead. The novel Storm picks up about five years later. The characters captured my interest right away and I am enjoying Storm.

This was a great intro into a very unique and exciting series. It's just a short prelude, you'll find out how it turns out in the book "Storm".

Book and plot was great just that it was way too short. I went ahead and ordered the next book and I hope it more than 49 pages. will find out 4/24 .

Elemental Powers

Prologue:
five years ago
Zander glanced at the the school’s principal, Alden Meyers, with intelligent hazel eyes, shallowly hiding amusement behind a straight face.
“do you know why you’re here?” the principal asked, a scowl prominent on his face.
“No, Alden, ” Zander said easily, his face in a mask of confusion he hoped was convincing enough. “I'm afraid I don’t know. Is this a teaching review?” “Stop lying Zander. The street had cameras, and the three teenagers went crying to the police afterwards with a perfect description of a ginger haired man with flames shooting from his hands. you know better than to reveal your secret. You could’ve risked the entire organization with your carelessness!” Alden responded, an annoyed sigh issuing from his mouth against his will. “but i didn’t!” Zander retorted. “Thats all that matters right? anyways, they were jackas<3>ses.” “Language, Zander! And no, thats not all that matters. This organization raised you after your parents were killed. we clothed you, fed you, and most of all, we taught you to control your powers and to not use them for personal gain. you inherited your family’s powers, and you should use them to help others, not yourself.”
“But, why sir? Why was I, why were all of us, given our powers if we weren’t supposed to use them for our benefit? why can’t we use them when we need them? i'm tired of following your rules.”
“they aren’t my rules. they are the rules of the elders. they exist only to keep us safe.”
“well I'm leaving, Alden. i can’t sit by as people like those boys roam the streets robbing people. i will save the world. i will be a hero. maybe one day, you will see the truth. until then, good luck with your stupid school. I will teach the real fighters how to create their own destinies.”
“I can’t believe I trusted you to teach. I thought your ambition would show the kids to reach for better goals, that the world does not exist just for their benefit. i did not know you would become a prime example of what not to become. Leave, Zander. And do not return until you have seen the error of your ways. i will be waiting for you.” Alden said, finishing with yet another sigh.
Zander nodded and walked out. He had work to do. Soon the world would once again worship the power of gods, except this time, he would be the one in control.

~~[(Blank)]~~

(Note, all of this was copied and pasted from computer, so forgive any formatting errors. I tried to make it look as much like the original as possible, but i may have messed up in a couple places. thanks for reading:) please leave a rating and some constructive criticism if you can. it would mean a lot. )

I expect a true ending to any story even an novella, but this one left didn't have one - the storyline was incomplete. It read more like a sample of a book. The plot, of which could only be loosely gathered was an interesting one. It didn't even answer a lot of Questions that were brought up. I usually can forgive the Q's as long as there is a true ending. None here. The novel Storm doesn't even answer the questions you are left with since it picks up about five years later. I was not captured by the characters write away, it took around 30pags on nook for it.
