But extracting her asset isn't as easy as she'd hoped, and The Guild and Kight Street teams must work together to escape ... If Maggie and Devon thought working together would be manageable, they hadn't counted on magic. Elemental mages recognize their soulmates physically, and the magic drives them to bond. They made it to the first landing. Devon tugged at her jacket, but it caught on her elbows. Her shirt had buttons down the front. He hadn't noticed that before. He yanked it open. Two buttons flew off, giving him access. The black lace of her bra would have been sexy any other time. Now, it was just in his way. He pulled it down, exposing her heavy breast and swollen nipple, which was in his mouth before he even knew he'd moved. He sucked, and Maggie cried out. She held his head in both hands, her arms half trapped by her jacket. He sucked harder, then bit, and then something strange happened.

Their energy joined. He sensed it merging, felt the burn through his veins, sensed the rush of air through hers. The edge fell off their desire, but it in no way subsided. Devon backed up a step. His eyes met Maggie's.

"We're in serious trouble."

"I know, dammit. I've been trying to tell you. I don't think this building is empty. I can feel eddies in the energy. We need to find someplace to hide."

"And fuck."
