I thought this was a good book, if not a bit confusing. New characters are introduced, which I like. I recommend that other people read this mystery.

I read this book a few months ago, during this last fall. I found it to be a nice book, though I don't think it quite measures up to some of Agatha's other Poirot mysteries. I felt that it was slightly more predictable, and had a less shocking conclusion than other Poirot novels that I have read. Even so, it centers around an interesting mystery and contains entertaining charactors that carried my attention through the less eventful sections, which occured a bit too often. But in those uneventful parts were hidden little bits of information that made sense when Poirot put everything together at the end. Ariadne Oliver was a fitting adition to the list of Poirot's friends who 'help' him in his investigations. She was humerous and entertaining to read about. I always thoroughly enjoy the bits of humor and hilarity that Agatha expertly tosses in to her books. The subject matter of this book was intriguing, what had happened between these people and how had it come about. It is a cold case that you will remember long after reading the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Poirot mysteries, especially those who are ready to see his little gray cells tackle a different kind of case, one that is full of family secrets, obscure clues, distant memories and tragedy. If someone has not read any Poirot however, I would suggest reading another one in the series first. Then reading this one would be fine. Though not as exciting and gripping as 'The ABC Murders' or 'Death On The Nile', this mystery is still a nice book for those who enjoy Poirot mysteries.

This is another well written mystery by the queen of mysteries. I hadn't read any of her works in some years, but coming back to read this one reminded me why she is the gold standard against which all others in the field are measured. Lovely book.

Sir Ravenscroft and his wife one day go out for a walk but do not return.They are found by the sea cliffs shot the revolver lying between them. Both of their prints are on the weapon and the police call it a murder suicide. Mrs. Oliver asks Poirot to help her find the truth conscering her godchild's parents deaths.The only thing they have to work with are the fuzzy memories of the people who were at the house at the time of the murder.Can they find out what really occured?

The book is really worth reading because i am sure every reader would be attracted to a murder in the past. That is the only exciting thing about the book. It lacks thrill and is also too slow. I remember reading it in 1988 when i was 20 yrs. old. Though it is not as vague as 'Poster Of Fate'the book is not as good as the title which tempts you to read it till the very end.

I gave this book four stars because it had a really good story but there were a lot of twists and turns which made the story line a bit confusing. If you don't understand some parts you should just keeps reading because eventually it will all come together and make sense. If you like mysteries with unsuspected endings 'Elephants Can Remember' by Agatha Christie is the book for you.
