There are a few different story lines occurring at once, sort of like a soap opera, but the change from one story line to another keeps the reader wanting to read more. Very entertaining!

That harrowing incident sent her to law school and the Office of the DA. However needing to leave the city, she prosecutes her last case successfully; convicting Clint Burrell Cruise for the serial killings of eleven prostitutes. Almost immediately after winning the case, Hailey resigns and moves to Manhattan.
Two years later, Hailey has left the law and become a therapist as she had planned before her beloved was murdered. However, she is shocked when someone begins murdering her patients using the same method that Cruise used. NYPD suspects Dean has lost it and is the person of interest as they find something of hers at a murder scene.

I had my doubts when I purchased this book, but I must admit, I was totally surprised. Although this book is fiction, it was very realistic. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I hope that Nancy continues to write fiction, because this was a home run for her. I LOVED THIS BOOK

this book is a must read it keeps you guessing who the killer is and gives you a suprise at the end it really got me at the end you never suspected it so if you havent read this book do it now your missing out trust me

I couldn't get into this book and I am a big Nancy Grace fan. It was boring, dull and seemed like it started out as an autobiography. I had no sympathy for the main character, I made it to chapter 9 and then had to return it to the library. Had high hopes for this one.

Thank goodness Nancy was encouraged to finish this book. What a long journey to write it and heal from the tragedy that sparked it. As a life long Atlantan, I enjoyed the familiar references in the book and was pleasantly surprised by her skillful storytelling. I am a mystery/crime junkie who enjoys her show and loves her dogged determination to be a voice for innocent victims. With the story left open for a sequel, I look forward to her next book. Nancy held her own with many of the popular mystery writers of today.

I was able to finish it in only 5 days. It keeps you in suspense. I thought the side stories were great, but when I really started to get into the stories more about Hailey I wish it was just about her. I really look forward to another story from Nancy Grace!

With my busy work schedule it took me 5 days to finish this book. It was a long 5 days. This is definitely not an "I can't seem to put it down" book. It was around chapter 32 that I starting getting in to this book. But, if you can hold out for the long haul, the ending is definietly worth finishing the book! Very good and shocking ending! The rest of the book was just very slow and kinda hard to get into for the first few chapters.

I tried to get into this book and gave up at chapter 10. It is confusing and boring. There is a lot of unnecessary foul language. I am surprised Nancy would use such words when they are not included in quotes. Wish I could get a refund.

I was happy to read this and thought that NG had a great story going. But...I just didn't care for the side-story. I think this book had 2 stories in it and the sub-plot was too distracting. I loved the main story and the character Hailey Dean, but every time they went to the other story, I got frustrated. I understand having so much to say that you want to get it all in, but it was too much. I did love the main story and hope to see sequels, I just hope that the sequels feature Hailey Dean alone. It's not like the other story was boring, it just needed its own space. I think Nancy Grace is a great writer, but her editors should have cut the distracting Island story and most of the politician story. Hailey Dean is a great character and well-written, so I hope to see more of her in the future.

The formal reviews of this book hit the nail on the head. A lot of pages spent trying to convince the reader how great Nancy is via the thinly disguised fictional character of Hailey, but not alot of substance in terms of character development, plot or much of anything else. The writing style is also not what you would expect from someone who is or was an attorney (as compared to someone like Grisham who sets the standard in this field). The dialogue is almost wooden and the transitions are jerking and harsh. I've said it before, but it applies here as well since the plot involves yet another serial killer -- will someone please rewrite the formula for thrillers? Serial killers are rare in society, yet every thriller seems to command one. Also adding to the transparency of the plot is the notion that only Assistant DA Hailey, instead of a legion of medical examiners, noticed something as obvious as a piece of twine on each victim's body. That aspect alone, which appeared in the first chapter of the book, almost annoyed me enough to stop reading then and there.

I really liked this book. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but by the time I got to the middle of the book I was hooked and drawn in. I also liked the short chapters so I can read short bits at a time when I'm in situations that don't allow me to read for long periods of time.
Nancy develops the characters well and left me with a sense of suspense by the time I got to the end of the book. I recommend this one.

This book was picked for my monthly book club - all 10 members agreed that it was horrible. The author goes on too many tangents to deliver background information making it hard to read and its' predictably makes it easy to put down; this killer combo leaves the reader as the 12th victim.

I knew nothing about Nancy Grace when I started reading this book, so I couldn't figure out how it got published. Then I learned that she was a TV personality, so that explained it. The characters are trite and cartoonish, with the exception of the protagonist, who is a thinly disguised, saint-like version of Nancy Grace herself. The plot is impossible to believe and has so many holes I kept re-reading back pages to see if I had missed something. This book is sophomorish, and I would recommend it only to budding novelists to show them what a FIRST draft would look like.

I am an avid reader. I especially enjoy crime/mystery. This book was so good. I really liked the twist at the end. I hope Nancy will continue to write more of the same. She is right up there with the BEST in my book (no pun intended)!
