The Elf off the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition Gone Bad

( 7 )

Overview

I honestly did believe this shelf gig was going to be great. 'Get out and see the world,' they said. 'Experience the joy of wide-eyed kids, holiday cheer, and the Christmas spirit,' they promised. 'Finally leave your parents' basement for once in two hundred and sixty-seven years,' they told me. I was sold.

I was sold.

And off I went. As a member of Santa's spy squad, I headed down south for the holidays to help the big guy decide who's naughty and who's nice. It was going to be a wonderful change of pace from the screwing, hammering, sanding, painting, and wrapping happening in Ol' St. Nick's workshop.

Or so I thought . . . ~Horace the Elf

In this for-parent's-eyes-only parody of the popular holiday title, The Elf on the Shelf, readers laugh along with Horace as he goes AWOL from his Christmas duties. This photo-story set to verse is the unauthorized (and hilarious) tale of one disgruntled little helper with a gift for making mischief.

Meet the Author

Horace has been a professional elf for more than 250 years. Before being sent out to spy on and judge small children, he worked the assembly line in Santa's Workshop. He currently lives in his mother's basement in the North Pole, though he's hoping that with the residuals from this story he can finally buy a place of his own.

    Perfect adult Christmas gift!

Bought this parody of "Elf On the Shelf" as a Christmas gift for a friend of mine and couldn't help but glance through it... It was actually laugh out loud funny, and I'd definitely recommended it as a great *adult* holiday gift (but it's NOT for kids!)

    This is SO FUNNY!

Ok, if you don't believe me, just check out that hilarious video! This fun parody of the classic Elf on the Shelf is SOOO making the rounds as my adult Christmas gifts this holiday season. If you have a sense of humor and you always kind of made up strange voices to go along with that elf (in your mind at least) this book is for you.
