Overview

Cursed, numb, rejected, scorned, wicked, sinister, dark, twisted...my name is Tex Campisi and this is my legacy. I killed my father in cold blood and lost my soul right along with him.
I crave war more than peace, and I'm about to take my place in history as the youngest Capo dei Capi in the Cosa Nostra...that is until someone stops me, saves me from myself.
But the only person able to do that...is my best friends sister, Mo Abandanato, and she just ripped my heart out and asked me to hold it in my hands while she put bullets through it.
Im cursed so I did it.
I'm numb so I held it.
I'm wicked so I liked it.
I used the pain Mo caused as a catalyst to turn into my biggest nightmare--the five families greatest enemy. It's my turn to take a stand, knowing full well I'm going to lose my mind to the madness that is the American Mafia. I've always been told Blood is thicker than life. I wish I would have listened. Because regardless of who you love? You will betray. You will kill.
Blood Always Wins.
The only way out is death..yours.
Welcome to the Dark Side of the Family.

While Rachel is one of the best of projecting the emotions of her characters onto her readers, her books are getting to get sloppy.  Too many inconsistencies are showing up in her stories and too many holes are left in her scenes.

For example:  Where was Bee during the climax and the end?  Why did Tex's hair color change from previous books?  How do the characters recover so quickly?  Where did Mo go after she and Tex walked back into the house?  Shouldn't chapters 70 and 71 be switched?

In addition, the POV storyline was too fragmented to get the feel of a true story.  It felt more like reading blogs of an event and not a novel.  I truly hope she returns to writing in a novel format in the future, slows down her writing to put in the extra bit of research and editing.

I am a huge Rachel Van Dyken fangirl and I can truthfully say that The Eagle Elite series is one of my absolute favorites.  I feel like it is almost like a huge secret and I just want to let everyone in on how good it is.  I have never enjoyed mafia type shows, movies, or books, but I have completely devoured every book in this series and when I finish one, I cannot wait for the next to come out.  It is truly fresh and so different, standing out like a beacon in a sea of romantic suspense books/series that are available.

Elicit is Tex's story and oh my, is his story fantastic.  He is such a complex individual.....dark, funny, a bit twisted, wounded, and the things he thinks, says, and does have you turning the pages, not wanting to put the book down.  Another thing I love about this series is how each book focuses mainly on certain characters, yet they all of the characters from the previous novels are integrated into each book and are written so well that you feel like you know them as if you were part of the family as also.  Then there is the mafia aspect, which is also so wonderfully written and different from anything else I've seen or read before, focusing in the seriousness of the the situation, mixing it with some really hot romance, suspense, and danger.  When you take all that and mix in the awesome characters Rachel Van Dyken has created, you have a book that is like a culinary delight that explodes upon your palate leaving you craving more and more.  I can't wait for you to read it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Holy Hell! I love this series!

I think that's the same headline I used for Entice, but it still applies! Rachel VanDyken is a mafia genius! She makes you want to BE in the mafia. Somehow, she takes the blood and the gore and the bad and puts a beautiful spin on it. Tex is no different. Tex's character is amazing. He is so much different than the other Elite members. His passion and love for Mo is down right beautiful. I laughed. I cried. I wanted to throw my book with their stubbornness. But, I'm so glad I didn't. This series is amazing. I know it says that it could be a "Stand-alone", but don't do it! Start with Elite - I promise you won't be disappointed!!

Oh! Boy! Quite the conundrum Tex & Mo have gotten themselves

Oh! Boy! Quite the conundrum Tex & Mo have gotten themselves into. I was biting my nails the whole time. This book had so many layers, twists and turns. My emotions were everywhere and Tex kept breaking my heart over and over again.

These Elite have gotten themselves quite tangled up in an incestual web. Elicit, I think may be my favorite of this series, Tex has always been the dark horse and you never knew what to expect with him.

Tex is so beautifully complex and torn to do the right thing to protect others at any cost.

This review is hard because I don't want to leak any spoilers. This whole series is just something that needs to be experienced. Mafia NA is not something that I would have jumped into to start with but it was written by Rachel Van Dyken so I had to read it, and I am so happy that I did. It's so intricately written with do many facets of the story and still so much potential to continue.

For Tex and Mo it has always been about each other but now they are forced to make choices between love and blood. We may think that decision is easy but we are talking about the Mafia here where nothing is easy.

I can't wait for more from these Elite and to see how the new era in the Mafia turns out for these boys. If Nixon and Trace are your favorite couple than there is a bonus story of them at the end of this book as well. Woot! Woot!

    Wow!

Incredible book. Absolutely love this series. Can't wait for the next book. Very involved plot, a lot of characters. Previously, I read 1&2 again to prepare for 3. I didn't this time, I was too excited. I think a page with a list of characters and their relationships could have helped. Thanks for an amazing book.

This book completely blew me out of the water. I have loved this

This book completely blew me out of the water. I have loved this series from the very beginning but I have to say that I think Elicit is (in my humble opinion) the best of them. There were so many things going on at once that I was worried I'd get lost on information overload. Instead Rachel Van Dyken built a world in a world and has me begging for more.

I loved that this one was about Tex and Mo. Throughout the first three books, especially #3, it seemed like his story was bursting to come out. And it did.... with a blaze of fire and a stick of dynamite in hand. The readers finally got to see the real man hidden underneath the jokes and the mask.

    LOVED LOVED LOVED

Wait... did I say I loved it?

Rachel Van Dyken┬┐s Elicit is the fourth book in the Eagle Elite

Rachel Van Dyken’s Elicit is the fourth book in the Eagle Elite series. Each book so far has kept me riveted to the pages and I am afraid I have developed an addiction to these Eagle Elite mafia books—I cannot get enough!

If you have yet to delve into the MAFIA MADNESS that is the world of Eagle Elite (Elite, Elect, Entice, and now Elicit), you should start NOW! Meet the five Families and our super sexy, swoon-worthy mafia men and our strong, kick a$$ Mafia women! I don't even know how to sum up the absolute EPICNESS of Rachel Van Dyken's Eagle Elite series. I have read each one and as I finished each book I would think how amazing it was and that there was no way she could possibly top it. Then Rachel would hand me the next book in the series and blow my mind away (and yes the pun is intended!) This series has it all - friendship, loyalty, secrets, betrayals, romance, love, steaminess, action, drama, laughter and tears. It will have you at the edge of your seat and begging for the next book! Don't wait any longer! Go and grab it NOW! You won't regret it!!

Now about Elicit…my reaction-weeks after reading this is still, NO WORDS! There are just NO WORDS that could ever do this book and the emotional rollercoaster it put me through justice! PLUS, OY VEY the spoilers!

Elicit is Tex and Mo’s book. Getting to know Tex better in this book – so worth the wait! His personality was really able to shine through here, every single nuance of it. No longer just the joker, who makes light of every situation, we get to see all of the other sides that have been hinted at in previous books. We see the man who was born to lead, the scary intelligence he possesses, the passionate lover, the all-consuming love he has always had for Mo. We really see Tex and Mo and their relationship – every volatile, hot and cold, push and pull, friend and enemy, love-filled, passionate moment of it. At times you want to wring their necks and scream at them! And other times it is the most beautiful thing you will read and I had tears pouring down my face.

The relationship between the friends, both our mafia women and our mafia men is just brilliant to see. It will both touch your heart and rip it to shreds! They are a Family in every sense of the word. BUT as the synopsis says:
I've always been told Blood is thicker than life. I wish I would have listened. Because regardless of who you love? You will betray. You will kill.
    Blood Always Wins.
The only way out is death...yours.
Welcome to the Dark Side of the Family.

Elicit was beyond even my wildest dreams! It is non-stop from the prologue to the very end. And there is even a special treat included! In the back of Elicit is a BONUS NOVELLA!!! All of you Nixon & Trace fans out there brace yourselves for: Enamor! Where you get a bit more of Nixon bliss! I cannot recommend elicit highly enough!

I received a copy of Elicit from the author in exchange for an honest review.

When I first started reading the Elite series, I was beyond skeptical.  How are people in their teens and twenties going to handle being in the mob or familia?  As I continued to read each book my skepticism completely faded away in part to the characters and Rachel Van Dyken's writing.

I never thought the Tex I first met in Elite and saw in Elect would be the same Tex in Elicit. Granted there were hints in Entice but I never thought I'd get to see this side of him.  I liked him lots for his humor and irreverence in the earlier books of the series and I wanted him back.  It hurt knowing why I couldn't.  I felt so bad for him and Mo.  Tex's journey and story broke my heart.  I wanted to wrap him up in a bear hug and not let him go.

I was really kept on my toes with this book.  There are so many twists and the book is action packed.  I didn't see any of them coming.  By the time I'd settled down, something else was happening to rile me up.  I loved Mo and Tex together.  I always have, and I always will.  I love him for being their for Mo.

I am so impressed with Rachel Van Dyken.  She's managed to make me believe her stories.  I love her characters.  I root for them though their travails and cheer when they find success and happiness.  I'm surprised how much I loved this book.  I'm not really a fan of dark romances but am finding they engage me.  I really do hope The Elect series continues.  I've fallen in love with all of them and don't want to let them go.

Another wonderful novel by the amazingly talented Rachel Van Dyk

Another wonderful novel by the amazingly talented Rachel Van Dyken! She is the woman that writes sweet Regencies where the damsel rescues the Rake. The Bet series with the very lovable and hilarious Grandma Nadine. The Seaside series with the troubled teenage rock stars that find love in the last place they would have ever thought. The Ruin series with Wes Michels who is an inspiration to us all. Finally the Eagle Elite series, welcome to the dark side of the family.

Elicit is the fourth installment in the Eagle Elite series. Each book gets better and better! When you're finished reading you think there's no way Rachel can top this. Well, does she ever! This book is so INTENSE! I laughed, I cried, I was happy, my heart broke, I was severely pissed, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time with adrenaline coursing through my body not wanting to put it down. There are so many details that make this story what it is. Tex is the one that is always laughing and making jokes but now he is the new boss to the Campisi family, the greatest enemy of all of the American families. Mo is the Mafia Princess that was kept in the dark on the gory details of the family business and now she finds herself in the middle of it. If two people were ever made for each other it would be Tex and Mo, their story is incredible! "Maybe blood doesn't always win out-maybe sometimes love can trump blood."
