Breathing new life into period music!!

This is an absolutely fabulous compendium of music from Elisabethan England, both vocal and instrumental. I encountered this album doing research for a play for which I was writing period music, and this album coalesced what I know as dance music, and also brought to life the music of the Renaissance in a way I had never experienced before. The musicians of the QuintEssential Sackbut & Cornett Ensemble do a splendid job in interpreting what little we know of music in Elisabethan England, and add the spark of life and excitement that is missing from many period performances. If you are looking to experience the music of the Renaissance as it 'might' have been heard, this album is a must have!!
