Meet the Author

#1 New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout lives in West Virginia. All the rumors you've heard about her state aren't true. Well, mostly. She spends her time reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write. Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent her time writing short stories... therefore explaining her dismal grades in math.

Jennifer Armentrout has done it, again! Using Aiden's POV was brilliant! Focusing on such a brief period of time and events, brilliant! Feeding the masses this snack between books, brilliant! Alex is a shattered husk of herself, caged and wild. Aiden is her ever-present guardian, watching over her, trying to reach her, bringing her back to herself, and to him. The gods have lost control over their 'game' and there seems to be no way to reach Alex before Seth overtakes her completely. When hope is at its end, it is decided that Alex will be given a extra strong version of the control elixir, hopefully gaining a foothold to getting her mind back. But, there is the distinct possibility that her mind could be lost forever, like a blank slate. From Aiden's POV, we see what happens when the elixir is administered. Aiden is now at the controls of Alex's mind, her master. He's beyond finding this distasteful, painful, heartbreaking. If you didn't cheer for Team Aiden before, you will now! This boy is in love with Alex, no doubt, totally and completely...In. Love. Will it be enough? Does Alex feel the same, as deeply and profoundly? Is love the key to getting her back? Talk about tension, action, emotion all masterfully wrapped up in so few pages! Five Stars for sure!

Read this after Deity and before Apollyon, trust me! It explains what Alex goes through after Awakening and when you start reading Apollyon, many things will make more sense. It's a quick read but definitely worth every penny!

Well, that was hot and sad all at the same time.  Elixir is not a fluffy novel, it gives some important insights into Apollyon. I somehow, and I have no clue why, passed this one up and I shouldn't have.  There were some things I couldn't connect what was going on, and decided it was probably found in Elixir, and I was right.  It was quite a treat seeing things through Aiden's eyes, even though it was very emotional and he had to make some hard decisions.

This 80-page novella is a bridge between Deity and Apollyon and is told exclusively from Aidan's point of view.  This is our first trip inside his head and he's everything I thought he would be and more. I love his devotion to Alex, even if it means starting a war with the gods. While it's not critical to read Elixir before Apollyon, its fun to see it unfold rather than summarized after the fact. Alex is being held captive to keep her from Seth and from becoming the Apollyon early. She lashes out at everyone as she and Seth share their freaky mind-melding capabilities. Alex doesn't know where she's being held, which is the only reason Seth hasn't come to her. Aiden will do anything to protect her and prevent the others from putting her on the elixir, the one thing that terrifies her most. But when things go from bad to worse, there may not be anything he can do to prevent Apollo from doing just that. Plot Although it is a novella, there is a lot going on with this plot. It is Jennifer L. Armentrout afterall. As with her novel-length books, she tells a compelling story, builds to a pulse-pounding climax, and mixes in some sweet, romantic moments. One of the things I like most about Elixir is that Aiden sounds like Aiden and not a guy'd up version of Alex. That was always my problem with Daemon's point of view in the Lux series, the inside of his head just sounded too much like a more profane-laced Katy. That's not the case here. Aiden is his own person, with his own thoughts and his own expressions. Characters The character development of Aiden is my favorite part of Elixir. He's conflicted about so many things, but not his feelings for Alex. Even though their romance is forbidden with a capital F seven font sizes bigger than a regular f, he'll do anything to save her. Watching Alex transform from a Seth-possessed demon child to an elixir-intoxicated dingbat through Aiden's eyes is heartbreaking, but incredibly well done. Bottom Line Elixir, while a novella, is really well done and worth the read. While you don't have to read it to finish the series, you'll be glad you did.

This shorter little piece is told exclusively from Aiden St. Clair’s point of view during his desperation in trying to break the connection between his beloved Alex and Seth. He’s faced with horrible choices and it’s his struggle to find a way to help her before Apollo is forced to do something drastic. I loved this one. I didn’t like Alex in it for obvious reasons, but the view into Aiden’s mind was a welcome one. I adored it. It needed to be told and I’m happy it did. Plus the choice he came up with in the end shows just how much he does love her, despite the taboo on their relationship. JLArmentrout does an amazing job when she finally writes from the male protagonist’s side and this just might be my favorite of all of the Covenant books. 5 stars!

This is a review of the novella that came out between PURE and APOLLYON. Leave it to Jennifer to make a short novella as exciting as one of her novels. First, it’s in Aiden’s point of view. Nuff said, right? If you love him as I do, he’s gonna break your heart in this one. He really goes through it watching Alex lose control of herself. Oh, and the decision he has to make nearly destroys him. Basically, you gotta read it. Like, the whole series. Stop what you’re doing and go buy it right now. I mean it. Stop reading! Get up! Go buy it! Trust me, you’ll thank me.
