Gr 2-3-Seventeen small-format pages on each topic translate into sketchy histories. In each book, brief chapters with large-print text are filled with color and black-and-white photos, maps, and drawings that fill slightly more than half of most pages. The texts, though informative, do not always flow smoothly; at times, paragraphs turn into recitations of facts. A box of facts or a time line is included in each title. These books may have appeal in the specific locales, but are not likely to be in high demand elsewhere.-Eldon Younce, Harper Elementary School, KS Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
