Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennifer Waldrop
Elmo and His Friends is a good book for parents to enjoy with young children. It is made up of four sections, each of which depict Elmo engaged in an activity. In the first section, Elmo and Big Bird put on running shoes. In the second section, Elmo and the Cookie Monster eat cookies. In the third section, Elmo gets dressed to play in the snow. In the fourth section, Elmo tries to learn to fly with Abby. It is ideal for young readers because the descriptive sentences are short and made up of simple words. Each section is eight pages and colorfully illustrated to hold children's attention. The only quibble I had with the story is section three, when Elmo gets dressed alone to play in the snow. Every other section features one of the other Sesame Street characters and it is a discordant note to have Elmo alone for this one section. That is of course something children probably won't notice, and they will enjoy reading about Elmo's misadventures. Reviewer: Jennifer Waldrop
