This book was a great introduction to Elmo for my toddler. She had previously seen him on clothing and diaper boxes and seemed interested. (He is precious, after all). There are not a lot of words on each page, so my daughter was easy to keep focused on the story and pointing out the pictures she recognized. The animals in the book are all animals that toddlers are usually introduced to and include a dolphin, an elephant, a lion, a monkey, etc. My daughter has sounds, some very interesting, for all of these animals, so it is a very interactive experience everytime we read the book. The flaps on the right hand side of the book allow her to open to the animal page she wants to explore when she is "reading" on her own. The illustrations are colorful and fun as well. I would recommend this book for young toddlers.
