Overview

Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married - I offered to shoot her.
Ten hours before our wedding - I made a mockery of her dying wish.
Five hours before we were going to say our vows - I promised I'd never love her.
One hour before I said I do - I vowed I'd never shed a tear over her death.
But the minute we were pronounced man and wife - I knew.
I'd only use my gun to protect her.
I'd give my life for hers.
I'd cry.
And I would, most definitely, lose my heart, to a dying girl - -a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.
I always believed the mafia would be my endgame - where I'd lose my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.
Or the beginning of something beautiful.
The beginning of her.
The end of us.

One of the best books in the series! I loved it. I just cannot find the words right now. I laughed I cried I was angry Then sad Happy and hopeful Then I was heartbroken and crying so bad I couldn't see the words on my Nook. Sergio and Andi's story is romantic, devistating, and epic. I loved having all of our favorite characters right there with them throughout their story. As always Rachel has written another masterpiece.

This is one of the best series that I've read in a very long time! Sergio is a bad mobster until he meets Andi. She broke down that wall that he had built around him and he found his true calling in Andi. She was a true Russian with a loud smart mouth, funny, sweet, loveable, and a perfect match for Sergio. With Andi he could be himself and she didn't care what he had done in the past. They grew a love that only comes around once in a life time. I love everything about Rachel's writing. Her characters are amazing, very lovable and like your best friends! I loved the book from beginning to end. I laughed, cursed Sergio, cried, laughed some more and really cried. Got so mad I wanted to throw my Galaxy. That's why I love Rachel's books so much because they make you feel all kinds of emotions. I remember my daughter got Eagle Elite series from the library and she never started to read them so I picked up Elite and started reading it and I was hooked from the very first page. Once I finished Elite, I took the book back to my daughter and told her she needed to read it because it is really good. She finally broke down and read it and was hooked. I never want this series to end.

Don't know how this book got so many good reviews. They must be paid reviews. It was not my cup of tea. Sorry but a book about drug lords, violence, blood, and killing just doesn't do it for me. I'm just glad it was free.

Wow I am not sure I can find the correct words to do justice to this unique and gut wrenching story! I haven't read this series before but after reading this one book you can be sure I will be reading books 1-5! I have out right laughed, snickered at their rudeness, gasped at their violence and blushed at the intimacy of these characters and couldn't stop reading till the last page!! This is a remarkable story with characters of strength and gentleness and heartbreak! Totally recommend this read!!

Elude has all the amazing character chemistry that I've come to expect from RVD's Eagle Elite Series. The members do kill, and sometimes bad things happen, but they are all true family. They argue, pick at each other and support one another. Often they have troubled pasts or some block they have to overcome to move forward. Sergio is a perfect example of this. In the previous book of this series, we found out that he was a double agent between the FBI and Mafia. He did so to save members of the family, but still it goes against everything. Now, he has direct orders to marry and protect a girl wanted by the Russia mob. Also she's terminally ill. So yeah, it's quite the explosive and emotional storyline. I worried over the direction the five families were headed. I laughed at the digs the guys and their women got in on each other. I teared up during the emotional times (be ready for tears). And of course I was, as always, surprised by Luca's mastermind black folders he left behind. I love this series, and I can't wait to find out what the crew is up to next!

Wam!!!! Bam!!!!!! Duck!!!!!!!!!!!What!!!!!!!! NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!Aaaawwwww!!!!1 HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US RACHEL VAN DYKEN!!!!! I hate you right now Rachel. This is how Author Rachel Van Dyken made me feel while reading this book. Sergio has finally got his story told and he is a very terrifying and exhilarating person.Sergio is a very complex, determined, loyal, and loving individual. I never imagined that my view of him would change so drastically. In the other Eagle Elite Series we get glimpses of his personality. The glimpses we get of him aren't favorable and the reader starts thinking the worst about him. Andy is such a BEAUTIFUL and AWE-Inspiring person that enjoys life to the fullest. Andy makes the reader rethink their lives and face one of the biggest fears we all have in our lives. She is an AWESOME but scary individual in this book. I wont say more because I don't want to give anything away about this Amazing book. This book made me ugly cry so hard. I haven't Ugly Cried this hard since reading Tempt My Heart by Danielle Jamie. I cried so hard that I went through a box of tissues like nothing. The feelings that this Author brings out in her readers in this book is Unbelievable. The best books that become my favorite are the ones where the reader can relate to how the characters are feeling about the struggles they are facing in their lives. Rachel Van Dyken went above and beyond the readers expectations in this book and by far has made it the best book out of the series. GO BUY THIS BOOK. YOU WONT REGRET IT. BUY A BOX OF TISSUES AND BE PREPARED FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE.

I am speechless! Really! Not only because I feel like I could cry over and over again! I am shocked how an author can become even better after publishing the other 5 books of this series. I was always a sucker for Mafia books-I like my men with pistols, Italian temper and a loose mouth. The last years I have read different kind of Mafia books. But now I have a problem? Why? Because there never will be any book belonging to the Mafia genre that will satisfy me the way this books do. I loved the characters. I already got to know them from the previous book(s). Learning ore about them was even better. The change they go through is described in a way which let you sit in front of the book thinking "How!?". In combination with the story that leaves you breathless, there is no other option than crying. And I cried a lot....In the bus. In my bed. While walking through the city. And you know what!? I don't have a problem with it because if a book touches you this way, others deserve to know about what a book can do to you. Moreover this book screams Rachel! She has this special writing style you really should take a look at! So check out the Eagle Elite series and convince yourself!

I told myself I wouldn’t cry. I lied. I told myself that it wouldn’t end like I thought it would. I lied. I told myself that I would forgive Rachel for breaking my heart. I lied. Ok, maybe I will forgive Rachel for Elude, some day, but that day is not today. Beautiful, poetic, heart wrenching, funny, sweet and tension filled. These are all words to describe Elude, yet none of these words really come close to expressing how I really felt reading this amazing story. I thought that this series couldn’t get any better. I knew it would be great, but epic is more like it for Sergio and Andi. Their story will make you laugh. It will reduce you to tears, big, fat, ugly, snot producing tears (poetic, I am not). Rachel has the ability to make you laugh out loud in one sentence and crying like a child in the next. This has to be the most beautiful story of the series. Just when I thought Phoenix’s redemption had stolen my heart, along came Sergio and Andi. Bravo, Rachel. Bravo!

The love story of Sergio and Andi was a tragic tale of a short lived love. These two lovers were pushed together to keep Andi safe from her Russian biological father. Andi was dying and Luca wanted Sergio to marry her and protect her to the end. I cried my heart out for them both and I fell in love! A powerful story. You will love it! I can't wait for the next part in this wonderful series! Rachel Van Dyken is an author who will not disappoint you! She is a strong author who brings her characters to life so you fell you are apart of each story. Thank you Rachel Van Dyken!

When I started Sergio's story, I definitely did not expect it to end the way that it did. I thought for sure Tex would come up with something to improve the situation. Tex's story had always been my favorite of this series with Phoenix a close second, but after reading Sergio's story, his is now my favorite. Andi was definitely the perfect person for him. I loved what Sergio did for Andi by giving her the honeymoon she deserved. That part brought tears to my eyes. This book definitely made me cry and with the way it ended, Sergio better have another book to finish telling his story.

★★★★★ I hate that I can't give this more than 5 stars... It really does deserve so much more than that!!! Rachel has once again blown me away, the skill that she has is mind boggling and like so many times before I am left thanking the book gods that I found her!! You can't just read Elude... You have to absorb it, take in every little thing and most importantly you have to feel it, that's the only way you'll get the full Elude experience, and trust me when I say it is worth every bit of heartache you are bound to feel! Andi's outlook on life made me stop and think, I quite simply adored her, as far as characters go she was a real breath of fresh air. Sergio... Wow, never thought in a million years that I would love him but I do, he was such an enigma in the previous Eagle Elite books that it was amazing to finally be inside his head properly!! The rest of the guys and girls are on top form as you'd expect, the family banter is in full force and emotions are running high, so as you can imagine the result is explosive. The story is something else... It's everything I've come to love with the Eagle Elite series and so much more, the depth of emotion has floored me, the action is top notch and the quick wit and humour is just right, all in all it combines to make a truly heartbreaking but breathtaking story, now I know you're probably thinking how is that even possible so I'll tell you this... For every heartbreaking moment there is one equally as breathtaking to balance it out. This is definitely an ugly cry book so make sure you have a box of tissues at the ready, you're in for one deeply emotional read. Rachel has tackled yet another sensitive issue/topic and it has to be said that she has smashed it!!! Elude is a phenomenal addition to the Eagle Elite series, thank you for another knock out book Rachel.

Sergio is a cousin of Nixon Abandanto and a ghost. Andi is the daughter of a Russian Mob Boss. Sergio and Andi are getting married so that the Abandanto Family can protect Andi from her father. They don't love each other and they can barely tolerate each other. However, things change between the two of them. He would protect her with his life and she would do anything to keep from letting him get hurt. I loved how they kept calling each other nicknames. Italy and Russia end up taking on everything that her father sends their way. My favorite quote in the entire book came from Andi. "Just for a few hours I wanted to pretend that outside didn't exist. That it was just you and me. I'll never forget you...I want you to know that. You give me moments, moments where I don't remember I'm sick, moments where only we exist. They're like tiny presents sprinkled throughout my life." The Eagle Elite series is my favorite series of all time. Rachel Van Dyken is a brilliant but definitely evil author. She can write a book that keeps the reader enthralled from Page 1. Rachel's writing style is addictive but so entertaining. I am definitely anxious to continue reading about all of the Eagle Elite.
