Yes, Elvis fans have been confronted with a dizzying array of retrospectives over the years since the King's death, but few have had as much going for them as this jam-packed single-disc collection. While the title implies it's merely a plain-old "best of," Elvis 30 #1 Hits goes a lot further -- particularly as regards the sound quality, boosted by careful tweaking of original master tapes so that even much-heard favorites like "Don't Be Cruel" and "All Shook Up" leap from the speakers with increased zest. The revamping process is most evident on the set's ballads: The way the vocals are moved to the fore on "A Fool Such as I" and "The Wonder of You" focuses attention ...

The revamping process is most evident on the set's ballads: The way the vocals are moved to the fore on "A Fool Such as I" and "The Wonder of You" focuses attention even more squarely on the King's raw sensuality. In terms of content, the disc picks up where the label's previous Elvis Number Ones left off, expanding the track listing by a baker's dozen by allowing for the inclusion of Presley chart-toppers from other countries and from genres other than pop. As such, '70s rave-ups like "Burnin' Love" and "Way Down" make the grade, as does the swelling "In the Ghetto." Rounded out by the recently uncovered -- and radically remixed -- "A Little Less Conversation," 30 #1 Hits doesn't merely preserve the legacy of Elvis Presley; it gives it a new vivacity, a power guaranteed to propel the music forward for some time to come.

Like the Beatles 1, like Elvis 30 #1 Hits.

Following in the footstep of the Beatles 1, Elvis 30 #1 Hits also hit number one on the billboard charts and around the world. It just to prove that Elvis Presley is the definitive king of rock and roll and the definite king of kings.

    Elvis 30 #1 hits

This is a good CD if you are a Elvis fan. It has 30 of his number 1 hits of all time. With 1 extra song that was redone to today kind of music. If you are a Elvis fan this is a great one to add to your collection. But if you are not a Elvis fan it is just all right.

A great choice for your collection!

Elvis would be proud. Some of his best songs were chosen for this cd and the sound quality is crystal clear--sounds like he is singing in my living room! (I think I'm daydreaming again). I love the remix of A Little Less Conversation!! It's impossible to sit still during that one!

    Elvis Evolution

A wonderful collection. You can easily discern the evolution of his great voice. The remix of "Little Less Conversation" proves that he could still be extremely successful in today's music. Long Live the Memory of the King!

    And his beat goes on....

This CD is great! It was a great way for me to introduce my granddaughter to Elvis' music. He has a new fan from the third generation. What a tribute to his talent!

    Better Than Expected!

What a treasure this CD is! I nearly did not buy it because I thought I had all of the songs, etc. But it is great! Even though I do have most of these songs on other CDs, it is marvelous to have them as a collection on one CD. It really does remind us of why he STILL the King!

    ELV1S 30 #1 HITS

When listening to "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits" for the first time, one will be amazed of hearing these songs and how they reflected the life and important musical cutural figure. This is by far the best Elvis CD out there. 30 songs that topped the charts in both the U.S. and U.K. The sound has never sounded better. It sounds like it was just recorded today. To those who have bought this already, thanks for making it #1 for the first 3 weeks. To those who haven't bought it yet, now is the time. This week (October 25, 2002), this CD got pushed down to #3 on Billboard because of that Faith Hill. Please, if you haven't bought it yet, please buy it soon. I want this to be #1 again! Getting back to the music from "Heartbreak Hotel" to "Way Down", it sounds like not one of these songs have aged. If "A Fool Such As I", and "The Wonder of You" sound different, that's probably becuase the master tapes weren't in top condition or when they went #1 in U.K. and not in the U.S., a different take was pressed. Still, that shouldn't stop you from thinking positive about this. It's nice to hear another take of a song every once in a while. "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits" should be in everyone's Elvis library, and if you're a fan, you know it's a must.

    why alternate takes

does anyone know the logic (or illogic) behind why the inclusion of alternate takes (not released popular version) of A Fool Such As I or The Wonder Of You? otherwise historically monumental Hap

    Melting from heaven

Like a river flows- just melted my heart (can't help falling in love) I have been waiting a lifetime to be released (it's now or never) Cross my heart I'll never return to my old life (don't be cruel) I'll always be yours if you were my teddy bear because they are warm & cuddly and always lead you away and they love to walk at leisure (teddy bear) Wild horses could not tear me apart (mustangs) (stuck on you) as well one day I need my cupboard doors glued back together And yes I have always pictured you there and yes a few chairs have been empty over the years (are you lonesome tonight) Once I mailed a letter and it came right back to me stamped (return to sender) And yes you can be an angel and nobody would ever know it because they cannot see your heart and spirit (devil in disguise) And yes there is an old friend I am waiting to see it has been over 20 years but, he is close to my heart and spirit (suspicious minds) And yes you should always smile, because this world be a better place to live in (the wonder of you) And my temperature can rise from my love of you and my friend of over 20 years (burning love) And some times (a little less conversation )is neccessary because actions and pictures speak louder than words And yes i have been waiting a lifetime to show my friend my love for him......(it's now or never) Wild horses could not take us apart when we come together for the first time, because we have been waiting a life time 20 years plus....because marriages are suppose to be designed from heaven, and children are conceived from spirit. Love g.o.l.d.d.u.s.t _

    ELV1S 30 #1 HITS

If you have not bought this wonderful compilation by now, you don't know what you're missing! This compialtion contains 30 of Elvis' #1 singles on one CD. You might say that these are the same old songs that are on here. Yes, but they have never sounded any better than before. RCA did a lot of hard work in cleaning up the sound from the original master tapes that haven't been touched in over 30 years. This is superb and clear-as-crystal remastering at its best. "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits" is destined to become one of the top CDs by the end of this year.

    Let's kick it !!!

I was in no big hurry to listen to another Elvis Presley cd, when my husband brought this one home. I could not have been more wrong after hearing how his one song was redone! Now I can't get this song out of my head. It rocks and makes you want to listen to it over and over again. It is 100% Elvis with a new twist. Well worth the money for this cd.

A superb update from timeless classics.

The remasteraing of the original tapes on this is unreal, listen to old Greatest Hits releases and then to this new one and you will see what I mean. His voice is crystal clear and you can hear the guitar with every note and pluck. The songs are in order of release, so you can hear the timeline of his journey through the years. His backup band has never sounded better, all of the songs are enjoyable, a solid addition to your collection.
