All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Never once has an Elvis anniversary been missed and his 75th birthday is indeed a big one, sparking a year-long series of RCA/Legacy reissues inaugurated by the four-disc box set Elvis 75: Good Rockin' Tonight. Fittingly for a celebration, Elvis 75 doesn't dredge up unreleased items or rarities (there can't be too much left in the vaults anyway), it celebrates the King at his best, telling the story from beginning to end -- in fact, beginning a little earlier with the pre-Sun 1953 acetate of "My Happiness" and ending a little later, with the 2002 JXL remix of "A Little Less Conversation." Never once has an Elvis anniversary been missed and his 75th birthday is indeed a big one, sparking a year-long series of RCA/Legacy reissues inaugurated by the four-disc box set Elvis 75: Good Rockin' Tonight. Fittingly for a celebration, Elvis 75 doesn't dredge up unreleased items or rarities (there can't be too much left in the vaults anyway), it celebrates the King at his best, telling the story from beginning to end -- in fact, beginning a little earlier with the pre-Sun 1953 acetate of "My Happiness" and ending a little later, with the 2002 JXL remix of "A Little Less Conversation." These are somewhat wobbly bookends to what amounts to the best four-disc box retelling of Elvis' familiar story, hitting so many of the blockbuster hits and great album cuts that it initially seems that these 100 songs cover everything essential. Closer inspection naturally reveals there are many masterpieces missing, whether they're from Sun, the '68 Comeback, or his last single "Moody Blue," but the great thing about Elvis 75 is that as it plays, their absence isn't apparent: it seems to serve up all of Presley's best, and at the very least, it's the best thorough overview of the entirety of his career yet assembled.

    Fabulous collection!!!!

I could never hear too much of Elvis! The selection is outstanding with songs like Guitar Man, Trouble. Even with a big Elvis collection, this is a must buy!

    Elvis

I brought this for myself as a birthday present. I have always loved Elvis since I was young and cried when he died. I haven't finished all of the cd's but am working on it. Great.

    Elvis 75

I am very pleased with my purchase of Elvis 75. However the book has some pages upside down. At first I thought that was the way it was suppose to be. But when my sister bought one, her pages were right. So I hope that means mine will be a collectors idem. Now my sister want one like mine. So I thank you very much Barnes & Noble.

The Definitive King of Rock and Roll

Like The Beatles Stereo Box Set, which I bought two, this is the definitive box set of the true King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.

    Great compilation of Elvis songs

This is a nice retrospective covering all of Elvis's career. The book that comes with the 4-Disc set is interesting and provides a lot of information on the songs. The hits are represented here as well as some of his lesser known songs. The inclusion of "Polk Salad Annie' in particular made me smile. Every Elvis fan should already have this in their collection. This collection shows the true range and diversity that Elvis had ranging from Rock to Gospel and everything in between. This would also be the perfect gift for someone who is just starting to listen to Elvis's music, or for those who place Elvis in a tiny niche as just a Rock singer since it encompasses his entire career.

    What a collection!

My daughter gave this Elvis 75 collection as a gift to me because I am such a fan. I love it. It has not only his biggest hits but some that you don't get to hear too much. A definite must for all those Elvis fans out there!
