...Yes, this book really is bound in blue 'suede', imprinted with an image of Elvis in silver. It is really a beautiful gift book, it even has a satin ribbon bookmark sewn into the binding, with a silver guitar charm on the end. Anyway, I received this book as a gift from my daughter for Christmas, and I must say it was my favorite gift. I have been studying Elvis this past year, and have collected many books on him. This one is not a wordy biography-type; instead it is a very attractive picture/fact book on Elvis done in a scrapbook style. It is one of the best books of this type on Elvis that I have seen. It is well planned and laid out, and it includes many photos I have never seen before, which is a big plus in itself. In the scrapbook style, you will also find articles from newspapers and magazines about Elvis, many of his album covers, magazine covers, movie posters, and various other things - including ads for Elvis souvenirs, the most unique being an ad from the late 50's for a 'genuine, official Elvis Presley doll'! The book is divided into 6 sections: 1. Tupelo and Memphis: 1935-1954; 2. Rock N Roller: 1954-1958; 3. Army Days: 1958-1960; 4. Movie Star: 1960-1969; 5.The Concert Years: 1969-1977; and 6. Long Live the King: 1977 to present. I am personally more interested in Elvis 'pre-jumpsuit', and so I was happy to see that the majority of this book covers the 'pre-jumpsuit years'. All I can really say is that this is a very well done book, and it would please any Elvis fan. You won't do wrong in buying this one.
