An Ancient War

Emaline walks down the dark street much more quickly than she would during the day. She tells herself to slow down and scolds herself for indulging silly, childish fears--she's thirteen, after all!--but continues to hurry. There's something spooky about this neighborhood at night and the sooner she can get back home, the better.

She doesn't even see her assailants until they grab her.

In a moment, Emaline's world changes forever. She finds herself held hostage by Violet and the sinister obeah as they try to coax Anthony, one of the Christ-following magi, out of hiding to come to her rescue. The situation is perilous, but Emaline's fear turns to amazement when Violet conjures a dark blue fireball out of thin air. When red flames suddenly start flickering through Emaline's fingers, burning the flesh of the obeah holding her, she finds herself caught up in the middle of a 2,000-year-old war between the obeah and the magi.

A Desperate Situation

Anthony helps Emaline escape from the obeah, but Violet and the others refuse to leave her alone. When Emaline gets kidnapped and held hostage, it's up to the outnumbered magi to mount a dangerous rescue mission.

In the Tradition of Narnia, Wonderland and Hogwarts...

Emaline's Gift is a Christian fantasy novel full of magic, excitement and suspense. Great for teens and adults who love fantastical adventures or for parents to read aloud as an action-packed bedtime story, the first book in The Magi Chronicles is an exhilarating introduction to a whole new world--and the God who is always in control!

Editorial Reviews

I like to read bedtime stories to my children (ages 5 to 12) but have been trying to find more fantasy novels that use more Scripture and Bible truths. Brad really delivers with this book which is totally Christ centered and focuses on the Truth. This a great novel about the constant spiritual battle between good and evil and how God remains in control and is always faithful. I cannot wait to read more from this author!!!

I really enjoyed this story for many reasons. The author clearly states that his intention with this story was to write a book similar to Harry Potter while strengthening his readers' faith. He was successful. I'm a Christian, so I was expecting the use of scripture. Not only did this book fulfill my expectations in that regard, but it also satisfied my thirst for adventure and fantasy when I read a book. I was hooked on the first page and on the edge of my seat at times.

Meet the Author

Brad loves to write. His short skits have been performed in countless churches throughout the United States and he wrote all the material that Stage Right Ministries, which he founded with his wife, performs in different churches and events as God opens doors. He has a short story available called The Book of the Harvest. Brad currently lives in Greensburg, Indiana with his wife, Shannon, and two lovely daughters, Madison and Sage. Emaline’s Gift is his first published novel. He would like to emphasize that he possesses no gifts or talents on his own, but only that which the Lord has blessed him with.

The author is in my writers group, and I picked up the book during a promotion. He stated that he wanted to write exciting fantasy adventures for his daughters like Harry Potter while strengthening their faith in God at the same time. Since I've never read Harry Potter, I had no idea what to expect.
And Christian Fantasy? Magi and obeah who can teleport to anywhere in the world or conjure fireballs in midair...? I wondered how these special powers could possibly focus on Jesus. But Brad delivered! It's a totally Christ-centered story with Biblical Truths woven throughout.
What I found was a wonderful tale for teens as well as adults, great for reading aloud to the kids and grands. It's a story of good triumphing over evil. It's a story of unconditional love. It's a story of winning souls to Christ, even those who everyone has given up on. I liked how the magi never lets the reader forget that God is the source of their powers.
There's examples to show how God can use anyone despite their physical handicaps, how sin separates us from God, how everyone has a purpose.
Pick up a copy of this one - you'll be glad you did.
Great job Brad! Looking forward to more!
