Meet the Author

I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.

For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle.

For more information about my unique take on the vampire mythos, check out my website at carisroane.com and my book release video on YouTube by putting in the search phrase, Caris Roane Ascension.

With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane

Embrace the Dark  The Blood rose Novella Series #1 By Caris Roane    Her destination became Merhaine, a realm located not far from Flagstaff. It seems that Abigail’s cupcakes were a hit not only in Flagstaff but in the magical Merhaine realm as well.  Abigail is determined to open up her newest store in this new market.  She hadn’t however counted on meeting the mysterious Mastyr Vampire Gerrod that rules the realm and she never anticipated how she would fall in love with him.  You have to read this first novella in The Blood Rose series and find out how it all happens.  Caris Roane weaves a wonderful tale of vampires, villainous Invictus killers and love that takes you into a marvelous adventure in Merhaine.  I loved sharing the journey with her delightful characters.  Bella Doerres

Gerrod and Abigail work well as a couple and complement each other. They have known each other and wanted each other for over a year when the story begins, so though things happen between them rather quickly in the story, it’s been building for over a year already. Abigail teases Gerrod and makes him smile. She takes care of him. She brings joy and more to his life. I am looking forward to reading more in this new series and world.

This is good book. I like the fact that Gerrod and Abigail Love each but are struggling with want to do, knowing that with him being a vampire and her a human that they can't be together. However they have a draw to each other they can't resist. If you like a well written dark story of love and vampires you will like this one. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Blood Rose Novella #1. I wasn't sure what to expect with this series, as I had just finished two of the Ascension series. I didn't care much for the Ascension series, but I enjoyed this first of the Blood Rose series. It had aspects of the Ascension series, but seemed like a gentler story. Both worlds are at war, but there was a tenderness and caring in Embrace the Dark, that I didn't feel in the other series. There is a sweetness in the sacrifices that they are called on to make for each other. I think it was the tenderness that got me. If you're looking for a paranormal story with real romance and caring between the leads, this series might be what you're looking for. I received this in exchange for an honest review and can definitely recommend it for it's solid story telling with caring and compassion, as well as it's love and passion.

While at a fae wedding Gerrod, a mastyr vampire is drawn to a human woman. When there is an attack and Gerrod needs to be feed to regain his strength, Abigail is there for him. An entertaining read that kept me hooked throughout. The attraction between Gerrod and Abigail is excellent, I admit some small editing issues but an overall excellent read.

There are nine realms that exist in a parallel plane to nine major cities in North America. Mastyr Vampire Gerrod, of the Merhaine Realm, couldn't figure out his attraction to the human, Abigail Kirkland. After some strange shared incidents, they seek the help of Vojalie, a very powerful fae. The information they find forces them to make some extremely difficult, life altering changes. The only problem I had with reading this book, was that it was over too soon. What an amazing world this author has introduced me to! Very large, very sexy Mastyr Vampires, each not actively looking for but finding their Blood Rose. A gifted woman that can single handedly meet the blood-needs of a Mastyr Vampire. A sort of mating ritual. In this book, it's Abigail and Gerrod. Abigail has a bakery on earth and is opening another in the Merhaine realm and is partnered with an elf. At the same time this crazy mating ritual is happening, they're fighting the Invictus. It's all a lot to explain but definitely worth taking the time to understand. This is a brilliant twist on the good vampire and bad vampire story line. I loved it and I can't wait to read more. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review. I liked the idea of the parallel fantasy realm populated with different kind of creatures, but still connected to the human world, in which the story takes place. The simple fact that other creatures than vampires and humans take part in the general story gives an interesting side to Embrace The Dark. The world described is richer than what happens on the pages, mostly because as a novella, the story couldn't broach every aspect of races, politics and society. I hope that the other books in the series approach aspects that weren't fully developped in Embrace the Dark.  The general plot is satisfying in itself, while making way for a bigger story I expect will be furthered in following books. The lead characters are pretty classic, with a lonesome, brooding, powerful vampire and a headstrong, independent yet caring woman. I liked the relationship between Abigail and Megan, since I don't see much of that kind in my reading. The story has the flaws of a first of series, in which the world must be built and explained enough for the reader to understand what's going on, but the ideas are interesting. I think the series should be more and more enjoyable with every new book.

This was a pretty interesting book. It was a little hard to get into, but once I finally settled in, it got pretty darn good. With this being the first in the series, there was a lot of explaining, which I didn't mind one bit. It helps you understand the world more, however there were somethings that I wished were explained a little more. There are nine realms and those realms are attached to major cities here in the USA. These realms are where all kinds of creatures, fae, elves, vampires, trolls, etc. Each realm is ran by a mastyr vampire. These vampires you could say are like the president, they care for and fend for and take care of those that live in their realm. However being a mastyr has its draw backs, they hunger, always hunger, almost always starving for blood. There are myths about what are called Blood Rose and not everyone knows anything about them, they are that rare and they haven't been around for a very long time.  A blood rose is someone that can stave of the blood starvation of a mastyr. They are the one person that can develop enough blood to give a mastyr what they are always in need of. Gerrod, mastyr vampire of the Merhaine Realm has finally met his and it down right pisses him off that she is human. This story moves rather fast, due to its short length, which means it doesn't have all the drama or drawn out scenes that take forever to resolve. I can't wait to jump into the next one. My copy was gifted in exchange for and honest review. I loved this story of Mastyr Vampire Gerrod and a human bakery owner Abigil. Gerrod has the responsibility of a million souls, that weighs heavily on him with the continuing attacks by the invectus. Gerrod fights his attraction to Abigail because she is a human. They get together and what a love story! Gerrod will leave you drooling.

An Excellent Novella Contemporary, Paranormal, Romance Flagstaff, Arizona & Merhaine Realm This is a world of blood-starved mastyr vampires and the rare women that can satisfy their deepest needs. Gerrod, is the mastyr vampire of the Merhaine Realm. He never thought a human could satisfy his blood-needs. Abigail is not ordinary by any means. Gerrod is stunned by her telepathic ability not to mention the richness of her blood. Though her human DNA makes her unacceptable as a mate. Gerrod doesn’t know how to turn her away when she is the only one that can satisfy his blood-starvation for the first time in a hundred and fifty years. Abigail wonders if she will succumb to the temptation that is Gerrod and give herself to him even if he is a vampire. Abigail’s human life is suddenly turned upside down when the Invictus, the enemy of all realm-folk, attacks a fae wedding. Now Abigail has to decide if she has the courage to pursue the path she finds herself on and that means giving herself body and soul to a mastyr vampire. She has to decide if she is going to return to her normal existence in Flagstaff or if she will embrace the dark. This is another unique take on vampires by an author that is proving to write stories that pull the reader in and doesn’t let go until the very last page. This makes for a story that is fun and different and takes a genre and makes it fresh for readers. The story also proves to be a fast read as the reader will not want to put it down until the full story has been unveiled. It will also have readers wanting to read more about this unique and different world. This is definitely worth check out. *Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review*

Another great chapter in Ms. Roane's "Realm" series about a Mastyr Vampire , a Ruler of one of the Realms, who desires a human woman and fights tooth and nail against the attraction not realizing she is his "Blood Rose"! This story encompasses witty dialogue, beautiful descriptions of hot winged men who can use their teeth to capture your attention and your heart and battles that make you cringe, sweat and then cheer!! Love this series and can't wait for more!! Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review!

Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review WWWWOOOOWWWW !!!! Embrace The Dark is just WOW! Caris Roane’s ability to create alternate worlds/realms/dimensions without make them sci-fi is amazing. The way she comes up with ways for characters to link, bond or mate is just unbelievable. She has this unique ability to hook you from start to finish and leave you wanting more, but not in a bad way. You can just feel everything the characters feel. How they come together. She has a way of presenting or describing different species without them seeming corny or cheesy. You truly believe these being could exist. I especially admire how she can describe a very sexual, maybe erotic love seen. Kudos to Caris Roane. Tricia Glinski

Gerrod, mastyr vampire of the Merhaine Realm has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Responsibility for his domain zaps the love of life right out of him. Who would have ever guessed a human cupcake baker could add a little spice and happiness to the uber serious vampire? Abigail of Flagstaff, a human cupcake bakery owner Arizona has enjoyed working in the Merhaine Realm for a year. She’s teased and done everything she can think of to get Gerrod to ‘lighten up’. As the story unfolds, Abigail and Gerrod’s lives are thrown together. Both follow their tendencies of putting themselves last, and thinking about the greater good.  The twists and turns abound, and you are engaged with a couple that need to realize that their happiness isn’t tied to their selflessness. Sooner or later, you have to go after and take what you want with wild abandon.
