Nicole Henry's vocals seem to ripen like a bottle of aged Sauvignon Blanc and the flavor is heavenly to the ears. Embraceable is certainly not the apex of this songbird because surely she has more gems to come. The majority of the tracks are timeless jazz standards and justice prevails on her takes on "Like Someone In Love," "Since I Fell For You," "Embraceable You" and "A Day In the Life of a Fool." Her debut single from the project "Waiting In Vain" is eclectic and would make Bob Marley feel "Irie" on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Accompanied by harmonica player Gregoire Maret, the single has such a robust appeal and shows true sincerity. The arrangements are undeniably awesome with some talented musicians backing her God-given voice in the form of Gerald Clayton, Larry Grenadier, Andy Snitzer, Kirk Whalum and a special appearance by a young lion named Julian Lage who strums beautiful guitar licks backing up on "Like Someone In Love" The music lovers out there must embrace "Embraceable."Was this review helpful?
