As the author of Embracing Grace, I would like to address the comment about me not having reconciled with my mother. Yes, that is correct, because true relational reconciliation takes effort and forgiveness from both parties in the relationship. I have forgiven her, prayed for her and reached out on many occasions, but I cannot fix or force her feelings or responses. As Believers, we are expected to forgive as Christ forgave us, and to extend his love to others; but Jesus doesn't force people to respond to him, and neither can we. God led me to write this Bible study in part because of the broken relationship I have experienced with my mother.

'Division and reconciliation'? Heck, she hasn't even reconciled her relationship with her own mother.
