Overview

Emergency Care, Twelfth Edition, has set the standard for EMT training for over 30 years. Updated with the latest research and developments in emergency medical services, this edition meets the 2010 American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and ECC, providing all the practical information students need to succeed in the classroom and in the field. Using the National EMS Education Standards as a foundation, this edition goes beyond the Standards to provide the most current, accurate reflection of EMS practice today. Getting students to think like an EMT, the text integrates scientific principles in a way that's easy to understand, and a host of critical thinking features–including a new chapter, “Critical Thinking and Decision Making,”–helps students learn key concepts while getting a dose of the reality of being an EMT.

This book is the standalone text and does not include the access code to MyBradyKit. If you would like to purchase the book and access code package, please purchase isbn 0132824418.

    Does not work with iPad

I just spent $50 to buy this book (like I have done with all my other textbooks) and it will not let me read it on my iPad. I am upset that they didn't specify that this book was not compatible with all divides.

Excellent for self-study or as an in-class text!

I have little professional medical background, but a strong hobby to look anything and everything up on google while watching medical shows on television. I am now an EMT student and this textbook delivers clear precise information. It is a 12th edition book, and it shows. The information is presented in an organized fashion and most chapters seem to stand on their own. If a skill from another chapter is referenced they tell you that you'll learn more about that skill later in the book in whichever chapter... It makes understanding the material easier if your a person that must know the reason a skill is done a particular way. I am not satisfied being told to do something without having thorough understanding of why they want it done that way.

I greatly appreciate this book, it's worth every penny too.

    Recently NYS Certified

This book, along with my great instructor, allowed me to get a 98% on my NYS cert. exam that was held in June. I couldn't have done that well without this book. Details are fantastic. I'm sticking with the Emergency Care series until I move up my level of certification.

This book is a necessity for any EMS provider!!!

This was the textbook used in my VA EMT-B class. This book not only helped me pass the VA state EMT-B test, but this book still helps me in the field when I need answers. I work in both paid and volunteer EMS, and the book helps in both atmospheres. Any EMS field provider will find this book very useful and informative on up-to-date Field procedures!!!!! I highly recommend this book!!

    Very Informative

This book not only goes step by step in preparing you for the New York State EMT exam, but also will give you more information about the basics of pre-hospital care.
