Meet the Author

Like so many other authors, Laura started writing at a very young age. She loved to read, devouring everything in sight, but when she ran out of the stories she liked, she quickly made up her own. Laura even wrote a small miniseries, The Steve and Laurie Mystery Books, which were, of course, a takeoff from dear Nancy Drew.

Her parents though, were pragmatists. They never put down her writing (they loved reading as much as she did) but they did encourage her to have a steady career — something where she never had to worry about losing her job. The summer after Laura turned thirteen, she volunteered as a candy striper at a local nursing home. The people were wonderful and she fell in love with nursing.

As the oldest of four, there wasn't a lot of extra money for college. She worked several part-time jobs to put herself through nursing school. There were times she struggled to juggle it all, but hard work prevailed and she managed to graduate and pass her state boards.

Laura knew early on that critical care was the specialty for her. Then years later, she somehow ended up in management, which brought a whole new set of skills. While working and having a family, she managed to go back to school to complete her bachelor's of science degree in nursing, then a master's of business administration.

When she graduated with her MBA in 1996, Laura discovered that she had extra time on her hands (time she had spent studying or in class). With her family's support, she went back to her dream of being a writer. She discovered there was much she didn't know, but after joining RWA (Romance Writers of America) she began to learn and hone her craft. Seven yearslater, she's thrilled to be able to combine her favorite careers into one. Writing medical romance for Harlequin Mills & Boon.

Laura has been married to her husband, Scott, for almost 20 years. She has a beautiful daughter, Nicole, and a great son, Jonathan. They are wonderful kids although, she says, having two teenagers in the house is an adventure all its own.

She hopes you enjoy her books. Happy reading!
