Editorial Reviews

Amazon Kindle - Bonne Elliott
Emmett and Gentry is another great story from John Locke. It is nonstop fun to read, as Emmett attempts to piece his life back together and meets some interesting characters along the way.
Emmett is one of those characters that you would love to know and have as a friend, but also be just a little afraid of.

In a nutshell, this book is one that I would highly recommend. It is fast paced, funny, adventurous and extremely hard to put down.

In this latest installment in the saga of Emmett Love, our hero returns from his incarceration filthy and in leg irons--only to discover Dodge City nearly abandoned and the love of his life, Gentry the ex-whore, missing.

What follows is very fast paced story of one man's grim determination to rescue his soul mate.

Like the other books in the series, it's impossible to put down, a breezy one-day read which is at times harrowing and often surprisingly hilarious.

I loved settling into my hammock with this. I don't usually read westerns, but I always enjoy the time I spend with Emmett and his True Love and, since the book is by John Locke, I once again met various other intriguing characters and was taken on a wild ride. This is probably my favorite Emmett Love so far, although I've enjoyed them all. Thanks for another pleasurable afternoon!

    Book three of series.

This is book three of the series. I paid $2.99 for this 160 page novel. It was okay and often funny. I wish the overview stated which number in the series each book is. They really need to read in order. I got three and four switched, so I had problems with pieces missing on four and three was rather boring. So far all the books have an open conclusion. I do not think I will purchase #5. These books have sex as one of the main themes, although there are not many details. There is quite a bit of violence. This book seemed to bog down a lot in the story line, being mostly about the shackles, horses and women chasing after Emmett. For some reason, my nook kept freezing up on this series, which although not the author's fault, was very annoying. I did not like a horse giving its all, then getting shot. There is some murder. Book four is better. This was an okay read, but I think I have read enough about Emmett and Gentry and am ready to close the book on them, permently. For ages 18 and up.

    Highly recommended. Love John Locke.

The next chapter in the Emmett and Gentry saga, while a little shorter than the previous two is still mighty entertaining. John Locke has a way of writing that just draws you in, and you care about the characters. In this chapter, picking up where the previous left off, has Emmett looking for Gentry after being in prison. Round and around, but he does find her. Good story. Waiting for more.
