Overview

Dr. Holly Hunt's groundbreaking work, Emotional Exorcism, offers all those in emotional distress a new way to face one's demons and banish them once and for all. For anyone unable to pull themselves out of sadness, anxiety, anger, or addictive behaviors, it is a potent and practical strategy for expelling psychological demons and stopping the feeling of failure.

Drawing on years of experience in private practice with clients of all backgrounds, Dr. Hunt shows how earlier life experiences can create a core of negative belief she calls the "Master Demon," as well as self-sabotaging thoughts and behavior patterns called the "Four Soldier Demons." These generate emotional negativity within us, providing a power source for the demons. Dr. Hunt then provides a practical, user-friendly, research-grounded model to change those self-sabotaging thoughts, behaviors, and feelings without the self-defeating burden of battling ourselves. Through a variety of tools, she empowers readers to separate from, stop feeding, and effectively exorcize our psychological demons.

Praise for Emotional Exorcism by Holly A. Hunt Ph. D.

Dr. Hunt offers readers a fresh perspective on overcoming emotional afflictions in our lives. The idea that we can separate ourselves from our emotional distresses by seeing them as demons which can be exorcised makes overcoming these afflictions that much easier. The afflictions are not us; they are negative forces which we can remove from our own spirit. Dr. Hunt gives us a step by by step approach on how we can do this. As someone who helps others overcome their challenges with disordered eating and other addictions, I appreciate Dr. Hunt's innovative visual of the demon model and her practical methods to aid one in recovery. This book is an excellent self-help discovery for anyone who feels like they can not be themselves because of their afflictions; it will help them let go of their afflictions so they return to "their own" true spirit.

Demons We Can All Relate To

Dr. Hunt's examination of an age old issue is both compelling and unique. She has coined new verbage to demonstrate the ways all of us keep our "inner demons" alive and well, and how to combat this in an ongoing and practical way. Easy reading, great case examples, and simple techniques and formulas encourage anyone who has ever had patterns that just simple seem to return again and again. Dr. Hunt provides an excellent research based, ground breaking piece of work that addresses issues most in the psychology field will not touch due to the complications perceived with "spiritual issues".
As a nurse, therapist and addictions counselor, I have personally observed these Master Demons and the Soldier Demons protectors at work. The solutions found in this book are age old in that we are given free will choice to enlist help and that we are not alone. The formulas are concrete, practical and tangible, leaving room for progress not perfection. Hopeful, masterful, enlightening and encouraging, I will recommend this book for my clients.
