I thought this novel was fantastic. It had everything in one great package. Vampires, werecats and psychics. I was completely engrossed in this novel...I would have to say the characters are very well written and you find yourself wishing they were real so that you could be friends in real (life). I would have to say that my favorite character would have to be Stephen who is a werecat. There is just something about him that made me feel a connection with his character...

This vampire romance has many twist and turns. It is a wonderful read. I loved all of the characters. So many parts of this story made me think, OMG REALLY? lol, boy does this book have a lot to offer. It is funny, romantic, and action packed. Many differences from other vampire reads. Especially the kind of Weres in this story, they are unigue and drop dead gorgeous :D A must read, I so hope she is going to write a part two. Most definitely want to read more with these characters :D

Given how frequently and pathetically vampires have been portrayed in media lately, it is no wonder why I have given up on them all. Until I read Empath, that is. :-) After picking up the book I couldn't put it down. This is what Twilight SHOULD have been. Claire is gifted in so many ways. Of course she doesn't see it that way. Empathy is a curse until she goes away to college and meets people just like her.... Vampires, weres... love. My point is, read this book !!!!!!!!!!!! It is sooo awesome!

I fell in love with this book within the first chapter. The characters were so real that the book actually made you feel something at every turn. Heather did a wonderful job and I truly enjoy the escape I get in reading her books.

Claire is no ordinary human. With abilities that have cornered her in social isolation, she has accepted that she will never be "normal". It's not until she meets Stephen that Claire learns that she is not alone in her talents. The excitement begins when Stephen introduces Claire into a world that she believed were that of legend and movie, a world where vampires and wares exist and live among her, a world with James. The Authors attention to detail allows the reader to feel a part of the story as it unfolds. I felt the emotions that Claire and James were sharing and it made me more invested in the story. An intense mixture of passion, fear and confusion that Claire endured made me want to reach out to her in a way that makes HK Savage a fantastic writer. As a more recent fan of the paranormal, I found it to be a breath of fresh air from the typical vampire story. From its dangerous turns to the unique bonds built between Claire and James, Empath left me completely anticipating the next book in the Trilogy.

Great Story. Long but not boring.

This was a really fast paced, fun read with both action and romance. I would recommend to anyone who likes Vampire or paranormal, especially if you like your story to be more realistic. Even if it weren't for the paranormal angle this would have been a good read anyway!!

Great book with interesting storyline and concept. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that HK must hate commas and semicolons. Some sentences I had to read over to understand. I think she could have made a longer series out of the books too, which I would have loved. I wish she'd do a little spin off involving Lucas. I liked him even though he was devious.

244 pages. can be read as a stand-alone. Sex scenes fade to black, nothing steamy. I did like this book and the story however I was confused when suddenly they were professing their love for each other after only knowing each other for a few days. There are things they don't resolve but there is no cliffhanger. It's one of those book that is great for an easy read and I got it while it was free so that certainly lowers my standards. I understood why we were supposed to like Stephen but that was pretty much the only character that you like for a reason other than that they were a main character and that is just expected. I feel like this book would have been a lot better if you switched back and forth btwn which characters thoughts you were a part of. I was hoping for a bit more vampire and a bit less magical powers. I didn't dislike any of the main characters but their logic made little sense other than because that poor decision was a catalyst for a story twist. I'm complaining a lot but I still give it 3 stars.

The story started off strong, but then slowed to the point where I lost interest in it. I'm not sure if it was my mood or the book.

I was able to read this book when it was still free. I loved the new ideas this author brought out in the paranormal romance catagory. It is refreshing to find a well thought out plot and an interesting story line. I see the influences of other authors, but this is an entirely new take on an old subject.

I Love This Series!! Brought to you by OBS reviewer Dawn Spoilers! I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! I’m having a lot of fun reading it. I had difficulty getting into the book because it seemed too informational at the beginning. But I was wrong. I later realized how important the informational foundation became to the story. Claire is an empath and her life has been difficult and lonely. Imagine not being able to be close with or touch people because you could be overwhelmed with their emotions. Savage perfectly portrays the difficulties involved with being a teenage empath. Claire is well defined, she is a brave young woman. She expands her life by going to college, which could have been a disaster. She struggles to cope on a daily basis, but she sticks with it. She refuses to give up and hide from the world despite being almost constantly over stimulated by those around her. Claire first meets Stephen at school. He realizes what she is and he takes steps to help her learn to control the emotions. He sets out to help her build walls within her mind so that she can shut it off. This is where James comes in. I’m in love with James. I can’t help it! He is gentlemanly, sensitive, almost too perfect. Initially, I was disappointed that Claire became so dependent on James. I dislike when a character just hands the reigns over to a man. By the end of the book, it finally clicked. She depends on James for more than just her safety.Claire is able, for the first time in her life, to have peace. Peace of mind is invaluable to Claire. Yes, Claire is dependent on James for her safety but he is equally dependent on her because of the gifts she brings to his life. He does not shy away from feeling human emotion through Claire after years of not feeling much at all. They complement one another. He becomes more human with her. And the peace of mind she gains through him opens up a whole new world of possibilities for Claire. It’s a very mutually beneficial relationship. Stephen and the clan accept her, she feels truly loved and care for with them. I enjoyed the vampire council as well. There are some fun and different characters peppered throughout the book. The sex scenes are not graphic at all. I was actually hoping for some smut. LOL Over all, Empath is a really good book. I recommend it with 4 out of 5 stars. I’m off to read the next book in the series, Bonded. This review and more at openbooksociety dot com

I can barely keep up with the author! There are so many misplaced commas and sentences that keep running together that I keep having to re-read the same passage over and over again. This really has the potential to be a very good read, but it needed a little more editing. Great story, great descriptions, and a few surprises along the way.
