Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kirsten Shaw
Connor and Grace are back in the latest installment of the "Vampirates" series and now that they have both learned that the evil Vampirate Sidorio is their biological father, they are invited to join their father and new stepmother Lola aboard their ship and learn the life of a Vampirate. While both are hesitant to accept, they are convinced by their respective captains to join them and spy on the vampire pirates. Life aboard the Vampirate ship, however, is not what they expected and they soon find themselves beginning to take pleasure in their new life as the son and daughter of the self-proclaimed "King of the Vampirates." What Connor and Grace do not realize is that their manipulative stepmother and father have been twisting the truth, concealing blood in their food to develop their bloodlust, and commanding the crew to befriend them. Although Sidorio does genuinely seem to care about his children and participates in the deception only to grow closer to them, it is obvious that Lola has ulterior motives. Eventually when Connor and Grace are forced to face these deceptions they are surprised to find themselves torn between their old and new loyalties before deciding where they truly belong. With plenty of action to go around and no lack of bloody, gruesome attacks, Somper has put a different spin to the vampires we know and love by having them set sail in the oceans of a world that is now mostly water thanks to global warming. At times the plot seems predictable. There are also pop culture references that may be lost on the younger target audience. Nevertheless, fans of the series will undoubtedly be satisfied and left speculating what will become of Connor and Grace as well as their soon-to-be born half siblings. Reviewer: Kirsten Shaw

I love the Vampirates books! They are the best kind of books- the kind that brings you right into them! I HIGHLY reccomend this book to anyone in searchof a good read. The age range on this should not be 9-12 is should be 'everybody' This is one of my favorite series. I also like that not many people that I know knows about them, they're not popular so nobody hates on them! Long story short, they are great books and worth buying!

Vampirates series is completely amazing! It's a beast of a read.. It'll soothe ur thirst 4 a mouth watering read! I first picked up this book when I was in the 6th grade, and since five yrs ago, I still am locating the where abouts of when the new books r coming out. I love to read paranormal and dark or gothic detailed books!!! I also love: Twilight Saga- Evernight Series- GhostGirl Series- Green Angel- Hunger Games- and Percy Jackson and the Olympians; and not in that order.

An amazing series about pirates and vampires, but it cuts deeper than that. This book is a wonderful story about two resilient teens overcoming obstacles, and drawing the line between good and evil. The Tempest twins; Conner and Grace, must solve problems for example Sidorio and he rebel Vampirates, find out the amswers to the mysteries inking up thier past, and most importantly: solve the conflicts brimming inside themselves. I am twelve, almost thirteen, and i would recommend his to kids 11+ Even adults would love this series.
