Overview

Now in its 11th printing, and translated into eight languages, Empowerment: The Art of Creating Your Life As You Want It is widely considered to be a classic in the field of personal empowerment and transformation. Much more than a collection of inspiring principles, the book guides readers step-by-step through a systematic self-transformation program addressing seven key areas of life: relationships, sexuality, money, work, body, emotions and spirituality. Empowerment is based on its authors' two decades of work helping thousands of people create the life of their dreams. Its simple premise--that our thoughts and beliefs create the conditions of our life--is illustrated with anecdotes from each of the seven areas. Readers are then given practical and immediately applicable tools to help envision and create what they wish to achieve in each of these areas. With over 60,000 copies sold, and with America's interest in self-transformation growing every day, Empowerment promises to be a strong title for years to come.

Gershon and Straub are the leaders of the Empowerment Workshop, an internationally recognized human potential training program. Now they present their program in this easy-to-use guide with methods for using affirmations, visualizations, and other metaphysical tools to achieve exactly what you desire out of life.

Meet the Author

David Gershon is the author of nine books, including bestseller Empowerment: The Art of Creating Your Life As You Want It, and the award-winning book Low Carbon Diet: A 30 Day Program to Lose 5000 Pounds. The founder and CEO of Empowerment Institute, he is one of the world's leading authorities on behavior change and large-scale transformation. At the height of the Cold War, he conceived and organized, in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund and ABC Television, one of the planet's first major global initiatives, the First Earth Run, which engaged millions of people in the passing of a symbolic torch of peace around the world. Since that time, he has addressed issues ranging from environmental behavior change to organizational talent development, from emergency preparedness to low-income neighborhood revitalization. He has lectured at Harvard, MIT, and Duke, and served as an advisor to the Clinton White House and the United Nations on behavior change and sustainability issues.

Gail Straub is coauthor of the best-selling Empowerment: The Art of Creating Your Life as You Want It and the author of the critically acclaimed The Rhythm of Compassion: Caring for Self, Connecting with Society, as well as Circle of Compassion, a book of meditations. Considered a leading authority on empowerment, she codirects the Empowerment Institute, a school for transformative leadership. Over the past thirty years she has trained thousands of people worldwide in empowerment, engaged spirituality, and the wisdom of the feminine. Straub lives with her husband, David Gershon, in the Hudson River Valley in New York.
