Overview

In New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Toni Aleo’s third novel in her hot Assassins series, the chiseled men of this Nashville hockey team can make anything happen when they go all out for the women they want—even turn a one-night stand into a happily ever after.

Audrey Parker is up against the boards. She’s stuck in a job she hates and pining for a total jerk. Meanwhile, her sister Fallon is moving out and getting married to hockey star Lucas Brooks. Where is Audrey’s Prince Charming? Nothing she does has ever seemed to be good enough for any of the men in her life. Audrey’s about to hit rock bottom . . . until she wakes up next to Tate Odder.

The thrill of moving up from the minors to the Nashville Assassins was a welcome distraction. But not even becoming the first rookie goalie to tally three shutouts in the Stanley Cup finals alleviates the pain. With the loss of his parents and sister weighing as heavily on his soul as ever, Tate Odder can’t keep pretending he’s okay. That’s when he meets smart, sexy Audrey. Her gentle warmth and quirky sense of humor make him feel whole for the first time in too long. But to stay that way forever, Tate must find a way to accept his past and learn to live for love.

    Empty net

This book would have been 5 stars but I just do not like the f word in these books. The story was good and easy to read. I just wish you writers would leave all these bad words out. 366 pages.

    Loved It!!

Important to Read the four books and the Novella in this series in order... Loved every story starting with Shea and Ellie; Taking Shots,, Fallon and Lucus; Trying to Score,, Audrey and Tate; Empty Net,, Jordan and Aynslee; the novella - Falling for the Backup and finally Piper and Erik; Blue Lines... Characters and story lines were all unique and well done and I read all five books in three days... Lots of smiles and a few tears and hockey was always in the background... Emotions of the characters were right up front and I loved them...

I should accept by now that these Assassins books are just going

I should accept by now that these Assassins books are just going to be an emotional rollercoaster. I’ve read Taking Shots and Trying to Score and both of them broke my heart at least a couple of times. Empty Net proves to be no different.

Audrey has some serious self-esteem issues that she has to work through and a pretty big secret that has caused her to seek out only bad relationships. We got a glimpse of how bad her latest one with Levi is in Trying to Score but we get a little bit more of it here. Unfortunately those issues cause her to fight her feelings for Tate for most of the book. There is a lot of back and forth on her part and that man has the patience of a saint to put up with it. But the nice thing is that once she gets everything straight in her head it goes much better for them.

    All for Hockey!!!

Good book. It actually had a story to tell. Writers need to stop creating these females that sound stupid and are always second guessing themselves and their lover. If there was a continuation of this story, I would buy the book.

    So far, not impressed

Having a difficult time getting into the book, whiney, shallow, slightly slutty but trying not to be, the amazing amount of wallowing in self pity and absolutely risky behavior of all the characters as well as putting up with a useless abuser. She started having sex at 14 for pete's sake, got drunk and crawled into bed with someone.... I'll try a little longer but so far I'm pretty disgusted and unimpressed.

Yet another installment from Toni Aleo and the Assassins, and I

Yet another installment from Toni Aleo and the Assassins, and I must say this one was much more enjoyable for me than her first in the series. I found myself connecting with the story and the characters quite well, and it was also a shorter book (a nice bonus).

"Taking Shots" was my introduction to Toni Aleo, and I wasn't terribly impressed. A part of me didn't even want to read this book. I figured I would not like it much, but I happy to say that I was wrong. I do like the author's "edgy" style, and the story even took some twists and turns I never saw coming. And you will never find any sappy romance in her novels!

I could have done without the flagrant profanity and the semi-detailed sex scenes, but that is another hallmark of Toni Aleo's style. I was not as bothered with those issues during this book, but I feel that they were a distraction. Although it is clear that the morals in the book are not where I would like them to be, I am still glad that marriage seems to be Toni Aleo's true "happily ever after" ending. I thank her for that.

I told my mom that I connected with this book more because it was the story of one of my relationships in reverse. There is a guy in my life who has a truly poor image of himself, and if he were ever honest with himself, he would not be coming up with every excuse under the sun for us not to be together. He could learn something from the relationship between Audrey and Tate. It was also nice to see Elli and Shea return (I nearly forgot about them!).

Although this is a book in a series, you will have no problem jumping right into the story. I can certainly recommend this as an edgy romance novel that many women will enjoy. Indeed, Toni Aleo's best so far!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

It is me, or is every book and every character basically the sam

It is me, or is every book and every character basically the same with Ms. Aleo. Girl has horrible taste in men, friends continue to tell her she should do better; she meets someone (and psst, he's the one), but another third of the book is the retelling of her fighting every sane instince to say no to the relationship! And lets not forget the underlying plot that you are not a real woman without waiting for a relationship with a real man. Yeah, forget your education, career and other meaningful hobbies!!! It's not until you meet the 'right man' that you can truely see yourself as 'whole'!!
I can't recommend her books, in fact, I regret purchasing any of them. I would recommend jumping off a short cliff into a thicket of thorns and then bathing in a ocean full of salt before reading another book by this author.
