Overview

Stephen “Kelly” Grayson has seen the best of us at our worst. When hearts stop working, when blood alcohol levels exceed limits we shouldn’t contemplate, when bodies are extricated from car wrecks, he’s been there to pick up the pieces, save our lives, and watch us slip away. His touching stories of life and death and the hilarious ones of times in between are here to give us an insight of what happens after we call 911, the ambulance doors close, or even what happens inside the ER when the nurse shows the ...

A MUST read for those in the Emergency Medicine field.

I am a professional Firefighter/Paramedic in a large suburb of Big-D. Kelly hits the nail on the head in all of his stories. I have experienced most if not all of his same situations and he describes them in words better then I ever could. He really gives the paramedics perspective. Any non-medic will love the way Kelly makes you feel like a fly on the wall of the ambulance.

BUYERS BEWARE - BOTH BOOKS ARE THE SAME

Kelly Grayson has two books out... I gave the first book I read 5 stars.... It was great! So I'm giving this 5 stars, too, because it's the same book word for word! Same chapter names, same stories, same number of pages, etc.... I'm glad it was free! I would be very upset to think I had a new book of stories and it is exactly the same as the other. This one was published in 2009 and named " Enroute - A Paramedics Story....". The other book was published in 2010 and named "A Paramedics Story...", without the title "Enroute" on it. Really disappointed!

    A fun, short read.

If stories about the daily life an ambulance crew interests you, this is a lively and fun read. The writer has an ego, but for the most part it doesn't carry him away.

    Funny, casually written. Easy read.

Disorganized and Disjointed - should have been real good.

I gave up after 70 pages (of 300). This should have been real good but it was not. If it would have been written like James Herriot's psuedo-autobiographies, then it could have been great. Disjointed stories of a Louisiana paramedic. Stories seem out of chronological order. Too much medical jargon that isn't explained. Never learned anything about why the author wanted to be paramedic nor where he is from. The stories don't have a "I wish I was there" quality. But it was not horrible, because I read 60 pages. I kept on reading hoping it would change style and I would start to love it. Paramedics would probably like this. It was free when I downloaded it, otherwise I would have been quite unhappy paying for this.

    AMAZING!

This book is one of my favorite ones! I carry it everywhere with me. Kelly as he's called by everyone shows the best and the worst of the EMS profession. I've cried and laughed like silly reading this book. It's one of the few books that keeps me going in my career as an EMT.

    Flat Out Hilarious!

Steven "Kelly" Grayson tells the life of an EMS it like it is, with compassion, sincerity and more than a little humor. I'm not in the medical profession, but reading his first-hand accounts almost makes me wish I was. His stories are quick and engaging and will move you to tears.tears of laughter and sorrow as he recounts the lives of people he's helped throughout his career as an EMS professional in rural Louisiana (PGHNSTRACH for those in the know).

Think of this as "Scrubs" for the bookreading/EMS crowd. Read it and enjoy!
