Overview

Teens on a quest to begin or deepen their magick practice need to journey within to unleash their unique abilities. Through a series of journaling exercises, THE ENCHANTED DIARY will help girls tap into their personal magickal powers while exploring the basics of witchcraft. A companion to the best-selling TEEN SPELL BOOK, this interactive journal features dozens of checklists, quizzes, and exercises to guide young witches to self-acceptance and awareness of the magick inside. This pretty tome offers plenty of space to write and doodle and will prompt creative magickal discovery with tests to Find Your Element, Unearth Your Clairvoyant Powers, and Learn What the Tarot Says about You. Beloved Wiccan author Jamie Wood explains the basics of witchcraft and presents spells for self-acceptance, courage seeking, self-pampering, and more. Also included are potions to create Perfectly You Perfume, Faery Dust, Kissable Lips, numerous other special concoctions, and a practical guide for using the tools of the trade, such as stones, colors, and herbs. Like a faery godmother, THE ENCHANTED DIARY will teach young magick seekers to develop their talents while gaining self-respect and inner strength.

Editorial Reviews

VOYA
This guide to all things magickal is aimed at teen girls interested in spells, tarot, spirit guides, elemental forces, chakras, and anything else related to mysticism and magick. The author devotes two to five pages to every subject that might be of interest to beginners. Readers can take quizzes to determine their representative tarot symbol, element, or benevolent animal guide; learn about Indigo Children, the Aquarian Age, or ley lines; and find directions for casting protection spells or mixing "Perfectly You Perfume." Each topic is approached as a means of self-discovery for girls searching for information about alternate spirituality. This mix might pique the interest of girls looking for beginner's guides to magick, but its usefulness as a resource will be quickly exhausted. Although each subject is interesting and well explained, no subject is granted enough space to be fully explored. Core elements of magickal practice such as circle casting and worship of the Goddess are not handled with enough detail to make this guide truly useful to a novice. Without a bibliography or resource guide, readers are left without direction on how to explore topics further. The book's workbook format, designed for readers to write and draw in, makes it problematic for library collections.
