* Book Two of the Highland Treasure Trilogy

Publishers Weekly
The second installment in McGoldrick's Highland Treasure trilogy begins with 16th-century high-action drama. Laura Percy has been in secret residence in various remote corners of the Scottish Highlands ever since her father was killed for defying the king of England. William Ross of Blackfearn, the reckless brother of a church provost, is sent to find the refugee and deliver her into their clan's protection. But just as William arrives to snatch the unsuspecting Laura, so have a sinister crew who are after a treasure to which Laura is connected. William finally snatches the heroine and brings her to Blackfearn Castle, where she finds work making lace. Though William resists the attraction he feels for Laura, he eventually succumbs to his desires. Through Laura, he begins to accept his responsibilities to his family and people. The romance is tender, and the narrative is enhanced by strong secondary characters, but the book's intrigue plot stalls in order to be resolved in the trilogy's final book. (Aug.) Glad I Found This Author! I think I liked The Dreamer alittle better than this story. This one made me laugh out loud so many times. Don't get me wrong, this is one very suspense start at the beginning of the story, that will have you on the edge of your seat. The rest is the developing relationship between Laura and her rescuer, The Laird. I loved how Laura is such an organizer, very passionate and caring person. There are many moments in this story, that will make your heart ache. I loved Gilbert and his niece and all the scheming Gilbert does in the name of love for his brother. There isn't as many love making scenes in this one as in The Dreamer, but still if you are a lover of Highland Romance, this will fill the bill too. I bought the bundle, and this could stand alone, but you will get more out of it if you read The Dreamer first because it explains the mission of the sister's, which carries forth in all 3 books. I read The Dreamer first, and then read The Flame next, before I started on Laura's story, because it explained a lot about John Stewart, who is a major part of the story of the older sister Catherine. You will love these author's, there writing is so vivid, and you can feel what our character's are going through. I have added them to my must have reads. (ljb).

This is a FABULOUS follow-up to The Dreamer. I was delighted to meet Laura, and loved her personality! Here's a girl who has a good head on her shoulders. The man who rescues her isn't half-bad, either. I picked up this book immediately after finishing the first in the trilogy, and loved this book from the very first page to the last. I'm now anxiously awaiting the third book in the series! :-)
