Overview

Leroy Brown is back in the next six books in the Encyclopedia Brown series. As Idaville’s ten-year-old star detective, Encyclopedia has an uncanny knack for trivia. With his unconventional knowledge, he solves mysteries for the neighborhood kids through his own detective agency. But his dad also happens to be the chief of the Idaville police department, and every night around the dinner table, Encyclopedia helps him solve some of the most baffling crimes. Interactive and fun—it’s classic Encyclopedia Brown!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Barbara Carroll Roberts
Encyclopedia Brown books have been staples on the shelves of elementary school classrooms and libraries ever since they were written in the 1960s, but the books are beginning to get a bit creaky with age. The dialogue, for example, with expressions like "Man, oh, man," "Scram," and "Good grief," may have sounded peppy and colloquial in the ‘60s, but today's young readers are more likely to find it antiquated and corny. Still, for youngsters who are ready to graduate up to chapter books, but have trouble following a longer plot, the short-story format of these books may be helpful. Young readers who like logic puzzles will probably still enjoy figuring out how Encyclopedia solves his cases. This volume contains 10 short "cases," with the solutions at the end of the book.
