Description: This encyclopedia is not intended to review therapeutics, but to cover issues surrounding the practice of clinical pharmacy including pharmacy publications, organizations, career options, legislation, and regulations.
Purpose: The authors state that the purpose of the encyclopedia is to discuss key people, events, publications, and a plethora of other topics that may influence the practice of clinical pharmacy. The book is unique and it serves as an extremely useful resource to pharmacy clinicians.
Audience: It is written for pharmacy students, interns, and practicing clinicians. Pharmacists in all practice areas will find the information useful and applicable. The various authors who contributed to the encyclopedia are experts in their fields and nationally recognized in the pharmacy community.
Features: The majority of the book contains information on various aspects of clinical pharmacy. Topics such as antibiotic rotation, medication use evaluation, and therapeutic interchange are included. The topics are alphabetically organized and presented as mini-chapters containing an introduction section, various subtopics, conclusions, and an extensive reference list. The authors also refer readers to useful publications and website resources to gain further information. Additionally, the tables and diagrams help readers understand the information and make the information easily accessible.
