But like Juniper Landing, a bright island with dark secrets, Tristan is too good to be true. The mysterious, heartbreakingly beautiful boy Rory thought she knew is responsible for unthinkable evil-sending good souls to the Shadowlands in order to get himself a second chance at life on Earth. He has already claimed Rory's friend Aaron and her own father, but when Tristan sends her sister, Darcy, to the Shadowlands, too, Rory decides to take matters into her own hands. She will do anything to save her family, even if it means going to hell and back.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
4Q 4P S In the final installment of the Shadowlands series, all is not well on Juniper Landing, a place the newly dead travel through to resolve their former issues on earth. Rory Miller and the other Lifers have discovered that Tristan and Nadia are behind Juniper Landing's sudden decay and innocent souls being taken to the Shadowlands, a place in the afterlife for those beyond redemption. As Rory searches for Tristan, she struggles with her love for him, doubts about his innocence, and newfound feelings for another Lifer. When her father and sister are forced into the Shadowlands, Rory becomes even more committed to finding Tristan to get answers and to get her family back. Things are not what they seem, though-once Tristan and Nadia are found, Juniper Landing does not go back to normal. With Juniper Landing collapsing and the newly dead getting restless, time is running out for Rory to find out who is really behind all of the misdeeds. In the haste to unfold the plot and wrap up the series, many of the events are not as complete or cohesive as the previous novels. The suspense and tension are somewhat lost in the frantic action. Fans of the series will be satisfied to have a resolution, albeit a rushed one with some unanswered questions. While Endless does present a coherent story, readers new to the series will need to start at the beginning to understand the premise and relationships.-Jewel Davis.—VOYA

"Truly frightening."—Publishers Weekly

"Partly delicious and partly frightening." —Kirkus Reviews

Praise for Shadowlands:

"Haunting and mysterious--Shadowlands kept me guessing until the very last page."—Sara Shepard, author of the New York Times #1 best-selling Pretty Little Liars series

Gr 9 Up—Just as Rory Miller is getting used to the idea that she is a Lifer, someone who ushers souls from Juniper Island (an afterlife waystation) to either the Light or the Shadowlands, she starts to suspect that her soulmate Tristan isn't as perfect as she thought. When her father gets sent to Hell, she suspects Tristan as the culprit and vows to go to Hell and back to rescue her father. A riveting conclusion to Brian's mystery series with a paranormal twist.

    Best Book Ever!

I have read all of the shadowlands series and oh my gosh. I have never read a better series before. This book inpaticular is great! It has so many twists and turns. I didn't want to finish the book because I wanted to experiance it for longer, but I had to finish it because I just couldn't keep my eyes off of this book. I will be sad that the series is over, but I'm excited to finally know what happened.

*NOTE* I have not read this book yet

But the other two were interesting enough in a way only Kate Brian can do. If you liked the Private and Privilege series, then you'll like this one since they are similar to each other without being too repetetive
