Now that John and Hannah have been in New South Wales for several years, they've begun to build a life together. It was interesting to read about how they started off as convicts but have now managed to have their own farm, livestock and their past has become a distant memory. This story is not so much about Australia as it is about John and Hannah's relationship. Hannah is like a Job character as she is severely tested throughout the whole story. Anything bad that could happen to her, happened in this book. She handled things way better than I would have. While I enjoyed the story, I did have several qualms while reading it. My main one is the entire storyline of the dead spouse coming back to life and ruining a marriage. I really don't like this storyline because it seems to come up a lot in Christian fiction and every single time it ends the same way. This case is no different. I cannot believe that not a single person questioned Margaret and was so readily to dismiss John and Hannah's marriage. It just seemed that everyone gave up too easily. I unfortunately did not like Hannah in this book. Any spunk or boldness she had in previous books seemed to disappear once Margaret showed up. She didn't try to fight for John, she just became a pushover. Even when she had suspicions she didn't want to pursue them and when she did find out the truth, it was only because of a friend's urging that she finally decided to do something. John is no help either as he immediately goes back to his first wife and just dismisses Hannah. There were several times throughout the book that I just wanted to scream at everyone. I will say though the ending was slightly unexpected and I am glad that it didn't end in the predictable way. I am sad that this is the last book in the series as I would have liked to see more of how the characters survive in their new surroundings. Stories about this time period and location are unique and these characters will be missed.

This was a great conclusion to the trilogy, I didn't know how the series could have been extended but it did to include John's wife Margret not be dead and all the drama that followed. This is a bit of a create-your-own-ending in a sense but it doesn't just leave you hanging for the most part. You don't find out what John and Hannah are having but you imagine because of something John sees. No good guy was left with an unhappy ending.

This book was good however I am a little disappointed. First off I am a little angry at the characters in this story. Yes, it is fiction but reality if my husband's dead wife shows up out of no where and he goes back to her I am going to be extremely angry and upset. Hannah on the other hand was strong and courageous but I felt she gave up way to easily. God was on her side through it all however in the real world I think there would have been a huge fight. I could not have let my husband go that easy and just walk away thinking this is what God's will is. Even though I admire Hannah I think you can definitely see the fictional side to this story. Also I was disappointed with the end especially knowning that this is also the end of the series. I would like to hear more about Hannah and John. How did Hannah's pregnancy go? What did she have? What about Lydia? Also what happened to Margaret and that Douglas fellow? It left way to many questions unanswere. I wish Bonnie Leon will come out with another Hannah John series.

I love stories that come in a series because you get to know and love the characters. I love how these book exemplifie God's sovereignty and our need to trust. I'm a romantic so I also enjoy the intertwined love stories. I wish she would write another sequel. Maybe Hannah develops a friendship with one of the prisoners at the factory and we see how her life unfolds.

I have read all three books in order and were they were good books and well written, I feel it ended too quickly. You get attached to the characters and their problems and once the problems were settled, that's it. I finished wanting more. I finished wanting to know that they lived happily ever after. Bonnie Leon should have at least put in an Epilogue so that readers could feel that the story was truly over.

I really enjoyed these books and highly recommend them as great reading material. It is sad to know what basically innocent people had to go through because of a corrupt society. Very heartwarming and informative.
