Overview

President John F. Kennedys assassination is the most studied murder investigation of the 21st century, yet it remains plagued by questions and a variety of unproven theories. Regardless of how tenacious and believable an enduring claim may be, if lacking historical or scientific sustenance, it is a myth. While these intriguing, but unverifiable suppositions gather attention, they detract from the quality of information essential to explain this mysterious homicide. Myths are superficial, have no investigative depth and ask the reader to take a leap of faith that having supporting scientific evidence does not require.

John F. Kennedy said, "The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic." Filtering long held beliefs in the Kennedy assassination through contemporary, reliable, established scientific facts will help to dispel myths; the very thing Kennedy described as the great enemy of truth. Enemy of the Truth utilizes various forensic disciplines to dispel assassination mythologies, including simultaneous headshots, where the shooter for the fatal head shot was located, if the limousine stopped and more.

The House Select Committee determined there was a "probable conspiracy" to kill President John F. Kennedy. Yet, many people have determined Oswald acted alone. For almost 50 years our country has been divided over what to believe, and we have been left with unanswered questions and a national history that does not reflect the truth. In "Enemy of the Truth", Fiester has answered some of those questions. Not with flimsy theories or strange interpretations of blurry photographs. But with modern, reliable forensics information. She explains why the forward and then rear movement of President's Kennedy's head in the Zapruder film is consistent with just one shot to the head. The actions of the Dallas Police Department are examined and compared to the investigative standards of 1963. Fiester provides insight into the reasons for conflicting witness testimony concerning the location of shots and for believing the limousine stopped. Ballistic testing is considered as is the possibility of faked blood in the Zapruder film. She explains in detail the single bullet theory and why it does not work. Fiester writes in a clear, concise, easy to follow manner. "Enemy of the Truth" is obviously carefully researched and Fiester provides references to support the information given. Graphics help to explain the more difficult portions, such as the trajectory of the fatal head shot and the single bullet theory. No fluff in this book -- just much needed, on-target information. "Enemy of the Truth" is a multi-layered, scientific look at the assassination, the resulting investigations and how we can use modern technology to determine the truth of what happened in Dealey Plaza. As a nation, we need to know the correct history of our country. In order to do that, we must examine carefully this assassination - the event that changed us forever. As a fellow countryman, you need the truth this book contains!

Sherry Fiester has addressed many of the long-standing questions I had concerning the Kennedy assassination with reliable forensic disciplines. This is a very different kind of JFK assassination book, it is not filled with the author’s unsubstantiated ideas, suppositions and theories. It is more like a scientific book with a historical slant. I finally understand why - if there was only a single shot from in front of JFK - in Zapruder's film Kennedy's head moved forward, before it moved back. And, I believe the explanation she gives for not believing the single bullet theory is the best I have read. The biggie for me was coming to grips with the idea that although she believes in a grassy knoll shot, that shot was not the one that hit Kennedy in the head. She shows how the shot was from the front, but where front was located blew me away! Her step by step trajectory analysis made a believer of me. The book is easy to read and easy to understand, I just wish she had written is sooner.
