A difficult read, like all Arabic translations to English.

This is the 6th English/Arabic Translation I have purchased. As each "approved" translation has to be accepted by someone in the Muslim/Islamic hiarchy, they all are in very stilted English(almost to the point of being pompus), or they have different Surah numbers for identical subjects or different words/meanings. I can see why Islam is so difficult to comprehend, as even their own "authorities" have very different opinions as to what many of the Koran "revelations" mean. Also, Arabic and English have approprate words for most any subjet, but all too often the Arabic meaning is entirely different for critical words, i.e., love, god, godlyness, marriage, divorce, interest(money), understanding, equality, forgivness, lying, witnesses, etc.---hence this has become the root of most of our Muslim/Islamic differences. I find the Pickthall translation the most accurate, but as it was accomplished in the 1920s, it too is very stilted--why more recent translations are still thay way, I just do not understand---but then again, very few things have changed in the Muslim world since the 7th Century. They started out fighting, feuding and pillaging and are still at it today, as evidenced by the recent three civil disturbances(wars?) in the Far East. I will close with this admonition, "This Muslim/Islamic issue is the most serious problem this country has faced since our Civil War"--Take heed!

    A reviewer

I feel lucky to have bought this translation of the Holy Qur'an. The language is very effective & simple to follow. The translation can be read in a flow. I would strongly recommmed others to read this. It also has very interesting & useful preface written by Dr. Zakir Naik.
