Editorial Reviews

Booknews
A resource for teachers, trainers, and others who want to be a motivating influence on adults as learners. Wlodkowski (Regis U., Denver) points out that all motivation must come from within learners but explores factors that trigger it and ways teachers can stimulate and nourish it. The second edition is revised from the first, published over a decade since, with a motivational framework more responsive to the influence of race, ethnicity, gender, and class on adult learning. This book was a required textbook for my Master's level class in Adult Education. As an educator at an adult basic education program, it is truly a find. It offers great direction and over 55 strategies for teachers of any level of adult education for motivating your students and/or competing with all the issues of life that a non-traditional aged student (from 24-70+) brings to the learning environment in order to keep them engaged and coming back.
