Overview

Whether genetically modified (GM) foods are safe or harmful is still controversial. Most foods we eat may contain ingredients derived from genetically modified organisms (GMOs)--everything from baby formula and food to our dairy to even our meat. If you live in Europe, avoiding GM foods is easier since laws require labeling. However in the US and Canada food manufacturers are not required to label if their food is genetically modified or not. As such, here are some guidelines for steering clear of GM foods in your diet, if that is your choice.

Are you serious? This book is full of misinformation and twisting of the truth. I was hoping for an educated take on the subject. Unfortunately, misrepresentation has once again prevailed. As a veterinarian in the food animal industry, the judicious use of antibiotics, top quality animal care, use of naturally-occurring hormones, and cow comfort are important issues and top priority. I'm disappointed by the clear lack of research on the subject on the part of the author. On a side note, one cannot avoid hormones. People, animals, and vegetables, organic or otherwise produce naturally occurring hormones. These same naturally occurring hormones, rBST specifically is naturally produced by the cow. You drink as much BST in a glass of organic milk as you do regular, standard milk. PubMed, friends.
