Overview

Some of the most complex and bizarre aspects of human sexuality are explored in this humorous look at the science of sex. For two years, science writer Mary Roach peeked behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, sex shops, couples’ homes, offices, and pig farms in order to uncover the strange lengths people will go to in order to find sexual satisfaction. Questions such as What is an orgasm? Why doesn’t Viagra have an effect on women? and Do corpses get erections? are addressed with both physiological and anecdotal explanations in this quirky and open analysis of copulation.
