Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jean Boreen
This text is part of the "Junior Library of Money" series specifically focused on introducing young adults to issues related to the world of money. This particular text focuses on entrepreneurship and how to become a successful businessperson, regardless of where one is in life and career. As with other books in the series, 26 detailed chapters discuss everything from defining an entrepreneur and how teens can become one to starting a business plan and figuring out how to develop a clientele, ask for referrals, and diversity. Additional topics such as taxes, marketing the business, managing time and money, and understanding the legal ramifications of running a business are also discussed in conjunction with ideas for making the most of personal creativity. Yellow "Did You Know?" signs throughout the text provide additional suggestions for websites that can help teen entrepreneurs. This text also has some checklists and quizzes that help young adult readers think critically about their goals in starting a business or marketing a product. The "Further Reading" and "Find Out More on the Internet" sections provide additional useful information and this series also does a good job with its glossary of necessary words. This book, and the series in general, provides an interesting look at issues with money and giving that young adults should be able to read and understand easily. Reviewer: Jean Boreen, Ph.D.
