    Pillar NT Commentary

This book was one of the very first commentaries in the Pillar NT series. Leon Morris is always worth reading and this commentary is up to his highest standards. It is clearly written and comes with a Pastor's heart. His writing is insightful, well ordered and will repay richly anyone who has a heart to better understand the Book of Romans.

One of the attractions of the Pillar series is that it is written for the average reader, as well as the serious student and Pastor/Minister It stays away from the very technical and academic textual issues (though the commentators have clearly done thier homework on these issues).

"Morris' practice in writing his Bible commentaries was to work through the text in the original language with respect and close attention to detail and write his commentary. He would then read what others had written on that book (of the Bible). Then he would respond to what they had written in footnotes, either using their insight or showing why he disagreed with their interpretation. Morris made his primary focus the words of the biblical text, so that the thoughts of other commentators were of secondary importance to him." Peter Adam, 'Morris, Leon Lamb (1914-2006)' in "Dictionary of Major Biblical Interpreters", 2007, p. 725 (Downers Grove IL, InterVarsity Press, 2007) ISBN 978-0-8308-2927-9)
