Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Matt Collar
Pianist Jim Brickman delivers a solidly beautiful collection of his signature primarily instrumental, adult contemporary pop tunes on Escape. His first album for Sony Jazz after leaving his longtime label Windham Hill, Escape is a heartfelt, somewhat melancholy, and always pretty album that more often than not achieves a cinematic quality. In that sense, tracks such as "'Waterfall," "Paradise," and "Barcelona" are sparkling soft rock ballads that bring to mind the best of Dave Grusin. There are also some superb guests here such as on the country anthem "Never Alone" featuring vocalist Sara Evans. Similarly engaging is the dark and intimate "Winter Waltz" showcasing violinist David Klinkenberg. Add in some pristine and tasteful production that makes room for orchestral moments as well as Brickman's skillful keyboard chops, and you have an album that offers much for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

One of the best instrumental cd's I have ever listened to! Jim's inspiring music touches one's heart and soul down to it's core.

Escape is Jim Brickman's first CD with original music in 3 years! Before this CD he had been working on a Disney CD and also his Grace CD, which were his interpretations of songs such as Beauty and the Beast and Amazing Grace. BUT NOW, Jim has gone back to doing what he does best, creating those wonderful Piano solo's!! Pop this CD in and sit back and relax and let this CD help you to ESCAPE from your troubles. There are amazing piano solo's such as Waterfall and Paradise, and Wonderful vocal tracks such as "when it snows" with vocals by Geoff Byrd. You will not be dissapointed in this CD!!

ESCAPE has got to be the best CD Jim has to date! I have been a fan for about 11 years and throughly enjoy the solo pieces. Jim has come up with beautiful pieces to help us "escape" in our individual ways. The vocals, "Never Alone" with Sara Evans and "When It Snows" with Geoff Byrd blend ever so nicely on this CD. If you are a fan of solo piano and want to be transported to another place for awhile, "Escape" will not disappoint you at all! So what are you waiting for, add it to your CD collection? :)
