Overview

The Kingston Trio made the urban folk revival a commercial commodity in the late '50s with the radio success of reconfigured folk songs like their smoothed-out version of the Appalachian murder ballad "Tom Dooley," and the group's clean-cut collegiate image gave them appeal across the board.
