Having read several of St. Augustine's sermons and letters in the Liturgy of Hours, Office of Readings, I became more interested in his writings. The Essential Sermons is a book that has been translated from Latin, and has his sermons and teachings on many aspects of the Catholic Church, in an organized way, so that reading his writings leaves the reader wanting to read more. He blends Scripture with the Teachings of the Church in a way that is like having a conversation with him. It is an affordable way to read such inspiring, life-changing, and motivating material from one of the Churches greatest Saints, and teachers.
