Clean & educational reading for young comic fans

I bought this for my 11 year-old son and, with his help, made the ratings above. What I love about these books--in addition to the fact that they keep him reading all day--is that his vocabulary is improved by reading them. Stan Lee includes challenging vocabulary words, which my son is constantly looking up in the dictionary or asking me to define for him as he reads. The Essential series is the old-fashioned comic books we (I'm in my 40s) read when we were children, without the gratuitous provocatively dressed heroines & mature themes.
